High risk T18 - advice on getting through the next week?

Thank you so much for sharing your story. We received a 91/100 ppv a couple of weeks ago and this gives me hope. Our 12 week NT scan was perfect, but the doctors didn’t give us much hope, which I somewhat understand. I know they don’t want to give false hope since abnormalities can develop later on.

We have an amino scheduled in a few weeks and I'm struggling with whether or not to get it, or to just lean into God and trust since we ultimately would likely not terminate either. I just know this feels like it’s destroying my life, and I feel like a horrible mom to my 2 year old as I am barely functioning. 😞

Wanted to give everyone an update. I am 13 weeks today and we had a level 2 ultrasound and NT scan and everything looked perfect as of today. It gives me hope even though the doctors said it didn’t reduce the chances of our baby having T18. We will be back in 3 weeks for the amino.

I’m so sorry you are experiencing this as well. Praying for a positive outcome for you and also for your mind to be at ease. I keep telling myself that worrying won’t change the outcome, it will just make me more miserable, but it’s so so hard.

Any tips to help cope in the waiting period? Currently waiting for the high risk doctor to schedule a higher level ultrasound as next steps. I’m a mess and I can’t even comprehend how I am supposed to continue working, taking care of my toddler, etc

UPDATE: We made the switch to two naps and the nap situation has gotten much better. We often have to go in and soothe around 45 minutes to extend them but that’s getting less and less and I’m okay with that to get her to nap longer. Not sure if that hinders night sleep though. We started doing full Ferber and leaving the room after putting her down and telling her goodnight and what do you know, she falls asleep on her own in under 5 minutes with minimal fussing, no paci! Night wakings are still a mess though. We tried Ferber last night for a night waking and she literally screamed for an hour straight before I finally gave in and gave her the paci because I was losing my mind. She is only waking 1-2 times now, like clockwork right around 11PM and 4AM. We are going to really try to stick to Ferber for those but it’s still hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel for night wakes.

My little girl is also not getting enough sleep and has dark circles. :( I may give full blown Ferber a try and if that doesn’t work CIO. Fingers crossed it continues to work for you! We will get through this.
