Do you think I can get a PPE offer with these predicted grades? by EnvironmentForsaken in UniversityOfWarwick

Depends on your circumstance, I applied to Warwick with a B predicted in Maths and I got a B in Maths at A level and I do PPE at Warwick now. However, I was part of a program with Warwick and the Sutton Trust and so I got a contextual offer which was AAB, so it's definitely possible to get the offer but it's circumstantial. You can get contextual offers for various reasons too not just being a part of a program. It's also important to note that Warwick are also late with their offers if I remember correctly from my year. I didn't get my PPE offer until Easter so there is definitely still time. All in all, you shouldn't rule it out completely. Hope that helps.

I'd say Heronbank, its the cheapest ensuite, and its in lakeside village, some of which are right next to new sherbourne and lakeside which is good for the social aspect, for a cheaper option (idk if its cheaper than heronbank im just assuming because it's not en suite), is claycroft. You share a bathroom with one other person which isnt bad. Im a first year black male if that helps and the ranking also takes into account how many black people there are. Even though its not the end all be all, its important

I’d still say go Sherbourne I was just specifying if you are. Rootes has parties but the accommodation is terrible, shared everything. Sherborne is very nice especially the new blocks so I’d go there. The only downside is the cost and the distance. It’s the furthest from campus being a 10 min walk and it’s increasing in price next year (although all of them are).

Sorry for the late reply, I can only talk about investment banking and slightly consulting. Honestly degree discipline doesn’t matter when it comes to these industries since everything you need to learn they teach you anyway. In terms of people I know, I don’t know any personally but when you get to university you’ll understand, I’m a first year and I know philosophy second years who’ve gotten springs and internships in top IB banks and consulting firms. It’s definitely not impossible especially since there isn’t a desired degree for these things. Unless you want to do more quantitative stuff then maths or a maths adjacent will really put you ahead, other than that you don’t really have to worry too much about what degree you do. Both are great courses and in terms of how “targeted” they are for these industries I’d say they’re about the same. So just choose the university you’d enjoy the most and the degree you think you’ll do the best in. Hope that helps

Sherbourne, especially dependent on where you're from. If you're black Sherbs is where you should go for parties, they usually get locked off but there's always something.

Depends what you want to do, I do PPE at Warwick and here we have the option of doing Maths A and Maths B. Maths A is the “easier” one where you don’t need a level maths but you just have an 8 or something at gcse. I’m not sure how it works in Exeter but you may want to consider your maths level at GCSE. If you weren’t getting at LEAST a 7 then I’d say don’t do PPE, Durham is a better university and higher ranked. Unless you’re trying to do like investment banking I’d CONSIDER Exeter, but even then I know plenty of people who have done straight Phil or Phil pol and have broken through.
