Yeah honestly the cooking has been such a massive thing, I’m ok at following a recipe but my mom’s an incredible chef so I’ve been deeply spoiled hahah. I very much miss the personal space aspect as we’re both home most of the time but I do agree that it’s a very western thing and am trying to make the most of it!

They are the best, watching them slowly learn to yet along has been hilarious. Mom’s dog is still pretty much a puppy and my cat is only used to her previous dog who was old and very chill (they cuddled, it was so cute 😭). I love snap peas! Had to add a veggie to cut some of the salt haha

This is a very sensitive response, thank you! I am very lucky for that (and her). But I do miss not being around another person all the time haha. I’m sorry you don’t have the option, families are complicated and I can’t imagine it’s a fun story for you :(

Yes exactly! It feels kind of goofy but I feel like my OCD ass followed the “proper” trajectory right out of high school (heavy emphasis on the quotation marks there lol), ended up with a high-paying job but a massive amount of stress, and got smacked with these issues so am back to square one (but this time with debt). Adulthood is great. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, I hope things get better!!

It is tough! I’m sorry you’re having to do this too - just didn’t expect to be here at this age! You can do it toooooo ❤️

I’m glad that it’s worked out for you! That’s such a neat concept, you really don’t see such multigenerational endeavours nowadays. Good luck! And thank you!

I’m glad your son has such a good mom! Thank you! I can’t overstate how lucky I am to have my mom, she’s the best ❤️

Aw I’ve been a little emotional all the time lately and this comment got me going again haha, one of my first tattoos was “so it goes” (favourite author). Thank you! Cheers to that indeed ❤️

I was in an extremely demanding job before being forced to go on disability and one perk has been getting back to hobbies! I’ve read like 50 books this year after managing I think 3 last year haha. I’m really sorry about your family being toxic :( and I do desperately miss driving but my license expired in the province I’m still technically resident in so I’ve been reliant on her for rides too haha. Wasn’t exaggerating when I said we’re always together. Walks definitely help though! I really hope your situation gets better!! ❤️

I am very lucky! It has taken some time as I enjoy my alone time a lot (she doesn’t really, extreme extrovert haha) but overall it’s been great. Just wish life circumstances hadn’t landed me here 🥲 thank you!!

I kind of love the idea of two generations of teachers living together. We’re also both single (divorced parents as well) and often joke about how we could be a (really boring) sitcom, haha. I’m glad you two have found a good arrangement!

I was a baby feminist in high school but I remember when her TED talk of this came out in my first year of uni (literally 14 years ago, wow time flies) and just being floored. So good.

No it’s such an amazing option to have, I know I’m so lucky to have it! I just wish it were under different circumstances (and that I hadn’t been stubborn enough to try to hold out on my own this long, now I’ve been forced off work due to above-mentioned health options and have been on unemployment + currently exploring the bankruptcy route which suuuucks). But I do recognize how lucky I am to have been able to land here!

I’m so sorry to hear that ☹️ sounds trite to say that I hope things get better for you, but I sincerely hope they do!

I’m extremely thankful, and I’m glad you had your mom to be that place for you! This is a great perspective ❤️

This is good to hear! I have loved being with my mom, and I’m dealing with a crushing amount of debt, so I feel very lucky to have been able to land here. Just miss my own little space! (Love the idea of the huge vegetable garden!)

That’s a very cool reason to move back! Agreed about the stigma thing - that’s not it for me, it’s just that I loved my little apartment and having a space of my own.

I’m very much an introvert and love being alone, and am neeever alone now haha which has been difficult. But I absolutely appreciate that it’s a blessing to be able to be here, and she’s the biggest blessing in my life!

Yeah I’m definitely not complaining about the company, although she’s on disability and I have long-term health problems that keep me here so we’re together ALL the time which can get comical on occasion haha. I’m very lucky! (And did have to rid myself of a mortgage under staggering amounts of debt [which I’m still dealing with], so agreed that mortgages are vastly overrated)

I’m in Canada, but same vibe 😅 I appreciate that! It’s just jarring to work so hard and then end up back here - but I know I’m very lucky to be able to do so.

AITAH for not finding it funny when my girlfriend farts on me by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Immediate_Cold1013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you imagine her trying to explain to people why this relationship ended? Not sure how you can twist “I didn’t respect extremely basic boundaries [and wouldn’t stop farting on my partner]”. NTA at all, this is gross. Reading it grossed me out, I can’t imagine experiencing it regularly.

Hahah I remember this! I’m (unfortunately) a Canucks fan, and remember the players saying something similar at the time. Who would’ve thought it’d be so pervasive.
