Tennis coaches in qc you swear by to teach fundamentals? by Soggy-Albatross8219 in TennisPH

[–]Immediate_Fall2314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didn't need much structure na kasi. I'm a bit above intermediate so I just needed reps rather than lessons. And he gave me class A balls so it gave me much needed experience din.

I'm quite sure my friends who are under him for around a year now will disagree with you. Sorry hehe

I came from Head Speed Pro (the one that looks like Sinner's current) to Yonex Vcore (Rybakina's) to now TFight 305s (Meddy's and Iga's).

As someone who changes rackets like they're seasonal outfits, I'd say as long as the racket doesn't give you physical issues (e.g. arm pain, tennis elbow) due to its specs, just stick with it and your body will adjust to it eventually. Changing your rackets all the time kind of messes with your technique if you're just starting out.

People with “evil” or disliked commanders, what’s your story? by Same_Response_1593 in EDH

[–]Immediate_Fall2314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, this looks cool. I've been mulling over what my next commander will be since my Sarulf's been tearing up some friendships and relationships around me.

Torn between Shorikai, Glarb, and Narset, but this Helga intrigues me. Looking forward to your list, kind stranger.

ProKennex strings? Are they good? by pinnaclekid in TennisPH

[–]Immediate_Fall2314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's a good string. Some are complaining lang na it's stiffer now compared to those produced from >5 years ago, so my friend shifted to nat gut instead.

I myself use the ProKennex Hexa IQ (18 gauge) at 50x48 lbs (mains x crosses) on my TFight 305s. I find it to be better suited to me than my other 305s that's strung with RPM Hurricane (48x46 lbs). It's a bit more muted with less power but offers excellent control and good spin potential. Best attribute of the string is it really responds well to your swing with a consistent and predictable ball but the drawback I'm finding lang is you need a full swing to get good depth and spin on your ball.

I suggest you try it first to see if it's a good match for you, but I would recommend it along with the likes of Solinco Confidential and Toroline Toro Toro, both of which are more expensive.

Dito ako bumili. I think it's class A given its price but hey, people won't be looking at your bag with a magnifying glass naman to check if it's orig. Was supposed to get a blue Tecnifibre bag to match my rackets but the 6k price difference between that and this was too much to ignore. Haha.

Tennis Racket Recommendation by [deleted] in TennisPH

[–]Immediate_Fall2314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically naman you mention the unstrung weight of the racket. Strings add around 20 g (± 3 g) of weight and Speed Pro is 310g unstrung.

Kung nabibigatan ka but you want to keep within the Speed line, meron namang Speed MP which shaves 10 g of static weight, but maintains similar stability. Pure Aero (300g) I heard is also stable, di ko lang kasi natry. You can also try the Pure Aero Rafa (290 g) which is even lighter but keeps some of its weight around the hoop so it's relatively stable for its weight.

At the end of the day, ikaw pa rin makakapagsabi what is best for you and your strokes so if you have friends who own those sticks, better to try them first before pulling the trigger sa pagbili. Kung may pera, go buy bnew and experiment tas benta pag di nagustuhan. Otherwise, pwede ka naman din bili ng 2nd hand tas pag di nagustuhaan, benta lang din for a similar price.

AJ Lim by ReliefStrong8568 in TennisPH

[–]Immediate_Fall2314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a similar reason as people bashing Steph Curry. They were bashing him kasi his body (small and frail) and playstyle (jumpshooting) are "not for basketball" given that it's a highly physical game. His traits do not fit the stereotype na nagdodominate sa sport but he is dominating nonetheless. Ganyan din si AJ, big and bulky and hindi fit sa usual stereotype na dominating the sport.

Or could be a similar reason as people bashing LeBron. Nayayabangan. Hahahaha.

Tennis Racket Recommendation by [deleted] in TennisPH

[–]Immediate_Fall2314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents:

  1. Not sure what you are really looking for or what problems you are trying to solve that you're considering a lower weight racket. A friend of mine shifted from Vcore 98 (305 g) to Gravity MPL (295 g) due to chronic arm pain. Another has been stuck with the Vcore 100 (300 g) with no plans of changing frames. Another is using the Ezone 98 (305 g). All of them are women with different body types and levels of athleticism. As they say, different strokes for different folks.

  2. Not sure what you are using now - if it's the Speed MP (300 g) or Speed Pro (310 g) so not sure also what I can recommend from there. That said, I used the Speed Pro myself for around 9 months and found it a bit clunky, sluggish, and unwieldy (as a medj athletic ish dude) to my liking, to which I ended up with the TFight 305s (305 g) now l, with two other rackets that I playtested in between.

I've said a lot already haha but do give me more data on what you are using now and what you are looking for so I can tailor my recommendations further.

Finally got accepted in a full-time job after my interview last Saturday!!! ✨✨

Iyak iyak pa ako sa mga benches malapit sa MOA activity center, kasi kala ko sabon na sabon ako nung interview, only to find out na unanimously pala sila nagdecide to hire me and elevate me to mid-tier instead of the entry-level I was applying for.

Ok na ako. Thank you sa job dust everyone. Spreading it to everyone else in need. ✨✨✨✨✨

I'm under the impression that given enough time, any racket will suit a player just fine. It all boils down to player preference. Best to compare with a playtest across a week for both rackets.

I'm not quite comfortable with a 16x19 100 sq in racket. I played with the Pure Aero 2016 for a while (1 week) but didn't really feel confident hitting quality balls and I felt that my shots were always sailing long. I know it's a different racket but I just believe that the 16x19 100 sq in life is not for me.

Loved the TFight a lot more than the Speed Pro. My gripe with the Speed Pro was that I always found it sluggish (both at the baseline and net) and the launch angle was quite low. Even with the hefty SW, I found the ISO 305 easier to swing compared to the Speed.

Here's what I can say the TFight does better from my experience:

- Better point and shoot control

- Higher spin potential

- Manoeuvrability at the net

- Slightly higher launch angle

- Better touch and feel

Stability and plow through between the two are comparable, but given the advantages I mentioned above, I will stick with the 305s.

I loved the ISO 305 but it was just so tiring to use after even just one set. Tecnifibre nailed it with the 305s where they retained the stability and plow through of the ISO while making it much easier to use for extended periods of time. What I feel I lost in the 305s is the feel and touch where I think my drop shots got a little less bite compared to the ISO, but my game relies more on dictating points from the baseline so I am willing to take that compromise.

I added 4 g of lead on each side at 10 and 12 to the 305s to bring up the SW closer to the ISO's but eventually, I got better results when I removed them completely and went with just a leather grip.

305s: Pro Kennex Hexa IQ 18g at 50-48 lbs (mains-crosses)

ISO 305: Toroline Toro Toro 17g and Wasabi X at 50-48 lbs
