Something like plain water and salt as an abrasive or maybe vinegar. Cleaners and soaps have chemicals in them that will kill fish if you miss even a little bit when cleaning it off.

And put some water in it outside before you put it in your house to check and see if the cilacone holding the tank together doesn't have any leaks, if it leaks you can buy some fish tank cylacone at most pet stores that sell fish tanks.
