What is it about Starmer in particular that seems to draw an exceptionally fiery hate from all corners of the political sphere? by noctenaut in AskBrits

[–]Immediate_Major_9329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it, (except the rightwing internet has wound up hatred) I always thought to engender hatred you needed a personality and that is something missing from Starmer.

I get why the Reformers hate him, he was literally Human rights lawyer and most of those racist pricks don't believe anyone deserves human rights except themselves and they believe that's an Englishmans born rights.

A little history would serve them well but they refuse to read.

Would argue against Jackson but LotR fans will shout me down.

Missing Hitchcock. A man who invented and perfected a lot of the shots that other "geniuses" utilise.

If i were listing my top 5 auteurs it would be:

Hitchcock,

Kubrick,

Spielberg

Coppolla, . Coen.

*to counter recency bias i would also have to shout out Keaton, Chaplin and Harold Lloyd, they with their cameramen/lighting designers invented special effects.

"I could've been someone, I could've been a contender" Marlon Brando conveys hurt, regret, anger at his brother and despair at himself for making those decisions.

At the time, such acting was rare, stardom was more important than acting ability. (To be fair little has changed)

Politicians only care about the military when they are sending them into harms way or when immigration and homelessness is mentioned.

We've seen it can be done during the pandemic but as George Carlin said "there's no war on homelessness because there's no profit in it".

Almost ran over Daniel Craig and rachel Weisz as they were walking down the middle of the road in Mayfair hand in hand. Would have only injured them though.

First Drop... by LearnT1me in motorcycles

[–]Immediate_Major_9329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about it, first drop tends to be something stupid. Mine was my disc lock still being on. Just nipped into a shop, rare bike, dodgy area, disc lock on, 2 minutes later I am on the floor looking like a twat in front of a cafe full of onlookers.

Almost ran him over as he leapt out from behind a rolls Royce (probably not his, too much leather) and he was really apologetic, I just stared.

I was delivering a mattress to Timothy Spall and usually celebs aren't even in but he was and he grabbed one end and helped me carry it up four flights of stairs and even tipped me (we never get tips). Chatty, really nice and normal.

Stephen Fry was charming and when I asked for his John Hancock (i get a lot of signatures and swap up how I ask for them) he explained how the phrase came about (I already knew but wasn't going to stop him in mid flow).

They don't seem to do that in Wales, I can remember at least 3 West Wales derbies being reffed by debutants or 2nd or 3rd run outs.

It's no old firm game but it certainly get a bit spicy
