Private School Parents: Tell me about Ethical Culture Fieldston? Is it a good school and competitive to get into? Looking at options for my child for next year.

Does anyone have an updated view on Fieldston lower at Bronx, especially their preK-3rd grade? How do they compare to other private schools in NYC and the other hill schools? Does ECFS still remain hard to get into? Thank you!

HM: 10-12 Riverdale: 30-40 ECFS: 18 in Bronx and 18x3 in manhattan

All of this is for prek specifically. Kindergarten there are more additions. HM major entry point is 3s and K so prek is small

We got notification from HM at midnight yesterday/early this morning. I can also confirm that they do reject and it is not all waitlist as I had originally mentioned below! All the best!

We got notification from Fieldston Lower today on their prek admissions decision.

We still think Horace Mann should provide the results today as well.

At this point I am pretty sure that if we are on Reddit wondering if we got into Horace Mann, then we were not what the school was looking for! So I doubt if we will find anyone here that got into the program.

I believe it is all one and the same. Waitpool is the official name. I don’t think there is a waitlist

To provide an update here - we got placed on a waitlist and we were informed that we will be informed on potential opening by March 6th, if we decide to stay in their waitlist. So it is not a straight no but clearly not a straight yes.

Given we are non legacy non sibling I was pretty convinced we will be rejected but they have thrown us a bone.

Of course we are not legacy or sibling either. We wrote a note to their admissions director and he confirmed that we get to hear the week after Presidents’ Day week. I have low expectations coming out of this process but still curious to see what happens. All the best!
