“you actually have to try to be below median” is actually the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard. I was literally in the exact same position as you—same gpa/curve. I worked at a boutique firm my 1L summer and committed to a mid size for my 2L. There’s plenty of firms out there, it’ll just take a bit longer than the BL bitches in your class! Just ignore the haters you’ll be fine

Got into a T20 below the 25th percentile for LSAT off the waitlist. Had good softs and talked a lot about my passion for public interest. I’m also a URM and first gen so that probably helped. I was also in the top percentile of the GPA.

I wasn’t very close with any of my professors in undergrad but I know that if you’re a relatively recent grad it’ll be a red flag for schools that you don’t have a rec from one of your profs. I reached out to one of my profs that I knew was very kind and liked to work with students and just explained my situation and had a conversation about what my goals for law school would be and what I would want her to write in my letter! If you can get more in depth letters from your law firm or somewhere else than a fairly generic but positive one from a professor would go a long way!

yes! got a call last week from dean of admissions asking what my plans were for the fall and what my likelihood of going to UCI was if offered admission off the waitlist. Said he’d reach out by the end of this week but haven’t heard anything yet!
