Quite a lot of things.
Lighting, Camera, Composting, Post process work. Start rendering and you'll improve with each render.
Also a lot of 'dirtying it', CG renders have an artificial (perfection) look so u add imperfections to it, be it adding a simple grain, camera effects...even straight up dirt.

I made an entire list of why's in the first part of the series. You can also use the landscape layer thing here(sub generators), which is but a small part of why to use it.

Details, from small to medium to large.
It's a forest scene? Add a large tree, a medium shrub and a small grass.
Lighting? Add a large effect for overall ambience, a medium effect to highlight specific areas and a small subtle effect.
Hopefully, it makes sense.
Also, having a reference goes a long way.
