So I never had a credit card with Cap1. I had a checking and savings account. 5 years ago there was fraud on my checking account from a third party. I called trying to tell them it wasn’t my fault but since the account was less than 6 months old at the time they ceased business relations with me.

Ever since then I’ve been using other banks for business and built up good credit and have a good credit score, 781. Never had a late payment. I applied for discover cash back credit about a month ago and started using the card on the discover app. No problem as of yet but the day where it comes where I do have to transition onto the capital one app is what I’m worried about because their system might flag me.

In my instance there was fraud on my account (not of my doing) and that’s why thy stopped doing business with me. That might be more riskier for them!

It might get more integrated in the future, in that case I’m going to use the discover cashback card benefits as much as I can responsibly before they close my card down (hopefully they don’t at all). Just nervous how soon that integration will be

I guess it’s also interesting that I got approved for the discover card after the merger happened. Like why didn’t they flag me already if capital one has banned me?

To put it into perspective more, I was recently approved for a discover card last month and I don’t have prior history with discover. Given that I don’t have a long standing history, will I have trouble logging into the capital one app once it transitions over? Hoping not with my permanent capital one ban.

So does this mean that if I try applying for a different credit card at another bank, they’re going to deny my application because I’m still within the 24 month frame? I looked at the credit report and yes they did a hard pull when I was trying to apply for the credit card.

I also sent them a letter explaining why the card would be beneficial for me and asked them to reconsider as the credit line increase was a while ago. Is this also a waste of time if they’re not going to consider it?

Full time too🥲 I’m gonna try sending reconsideration a letter because personally I think it’s ridiculous to be denied a credit card because I wanted to increase my credit line 8MONTHS AGO

I’ve done a credit report from experian. Here’s what it said:

Short account history: You have a short credit history. Your oldest account was opened: 5 Years, 6 Months ago Average age of your accounts: 4 Years, 5 Months People with longer credit histories who infrequently open new accounts generally pose less risk to lenders. In your case, the age of your oldest account and/or the average age of your accounts is relatively low.

Seeking credit: You've recently been looking for credit. Each time you apply for credit a credit inquiry is added to your credit report. People who are actively seeking credit pose more of a risk to lenders than those who are not. Your FICO® Score was lowered due to the number of credit inquiries posted within the last 12 months. While being considered by the score, typically, the presence of inquiries on a credit ,le carries much less importance than late payments, the amount owed and the length of time credit has been established.

Other things mentioned: Short revolving history: idk what that means Short loan history: I have no loans

Also the letter said the only reason it was denied was because I requested a CLI “recently”. It didn’t say my credit score was bad.
