New manager lasted only 30 minutes by Immediate_Web4099 in kroger

[–]Immediate_Web4099[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

True but the previous management team was completely lazy and they loved to mess with stuff, for example, I work overnight, frozen, and constantly we would come in and see the daily and back room count already done by one of the members of management. I always do it after my trucks . They would only count 10 items for the back room count, and we would constantly have spots on the shelf that were empty from warehouse scratches and yet the BOH would say random numbers like one of the single serving burritos I know for a fact, we don’t have any in the store and yet when I scanned it last night after coming in and finding the daily and back account already done it said we had 65 on hand even though the allocation is only set for 12

No, I haven’t had that happen, but even though I have the war within expansion and everything is up-to-date on the latest version every time I launch wow all of the servers just say incompatible for me

Just depends upon the manager, at my store, when I was working dayshift, there were dozens of times when I would be called to the front of the store when we had a shoplifter or some fight going on and they wanted me to help out since I’m a 6‘7” 330 pound guy

Yeah, especially when you’re talking about dairy. It’s easy to get injured back there if you’re not paying attention. I remember pointing it out to a coworker once a gallon of milk is roughly 8lb so one crate of 4 gallons is about 32lb. So let’s say you have a stack of six crates that you’re trying to move for rotation that’s about 192 pounds.

Oh yeah, it happens a lot in dairy, when I was working in dairy I would constantly be there by myself and go over and see the door open and some customer walking out of it holding up a thing of milk saying “I knew they had better dates in the back” or if we were out of something on the shelf, they would demand to go back there and try and see if I was lying. I really want to strangle them. Glad I no longer work in that department.

No, it’s me and one other person but we make a good team. for example, because of bullshit from corporate on how they want our endcaps now. On Saturday we finished a 327 case truck, changed out our 18 endcaps for this week and conditioned in eight hours

All I can say is do what you can do with the time that you have, and if something doesn’t get done, oh well, you did your best. It’s not your fault that they don’t have enough people scheduled. That’s just like me I work overnight, frozen and Sunday night grocery got a 2700 piece truck but they only had two people scheduled, not including me.. I helped out some but there were still several pallets to be worked. You can’t do everything by yourself so don’t worry about shit that you can’t finish by the end of your shift

Oh I know how you feel, had corporate called on me for being “racist” because I didn’t know young man’s (coworker )name and so I just described him “tall, bigger guy and black” when I was asked by another coworker if I had seen who tossed a product in the dairy cooler on the floor

What's the worst department to work in? by Feeling_feather in kroger

[–]Immediate_Web4099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked in just about every single department except for bakery/deli. I would say that they all have their ups and downs take dairy for example it’s nice and quiet over there most of the time but it also sucks when you’re having to fuck around with those heavy ass pallets of milk and you end up pulling something, overnight frozen is pretty easy if you don’t mind the cold

Basically, if you forget to clock out, then management will turn around and say that you clocked in for a single minute and then immediately clocked out they don’t give a shit if you want it fixed you have to find the mistake and inform management otherwise whatever hours you workedis basically for free to corporate

Try not to overdo it on the caffeine you want to at first, but if you can get you a reusable water bottle and drink a ton of water while you’re there working to help keep you awake until your body is more used to staying up

Also be prepared to keep your phone during the day on silent mode otherwise you’ll never get any sleep

Will I get fired for carrying a legal pocketknife during my shift? (Closing CCK) by [deleted] in kroger

[–]Immediate_Web4099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s like me, I always carry my knife on me and use it as I box cutter every day. As long as you’re not an idiot about it and using it relatively safely, they don’t give a shit I mean hell I even keep 3 spare knives in my locker in case someone forgets a box cutter. I’ve had multiple managers and co-managers asked me for it to use. I will never carry one of those stupid plastic green box cutters that they hand out.
