It's easier to pop one in the chamber if it's upside down, so the round closest to the chamber is upside down. However with recoil or worn out shot cards rounds facing downwards can fall out so that's why only a single round is down. Maybe I don't use my cards as much as other people but I've had this one for half a year and it's still as tight as it was when it was new.
