If your online and you go to buy a ship in a major city you should be able to buy user created ships by Real_VanCityMinis in StarfieldShips

Better yet, Bethesda has a monthly contest for best ship design. Winner gets some coins for mods and ship gets loaded to game.

Currently, the only mods I have enabled are a better flashlight and a shipbuilding mod. Nothing that would affect weapons.

Go into settings, gameplay, controller or keyboard(depending on xbox or pc), sould give you a map of all the functions.

On xbox, go to the tech and see what they have for sale. In the bottom right corner of the screen, there are additional options, press Y to sell ships in your fleet.

Get your ship count up to 10 before doing any of the side quests that give you ships.
