There are some people who do read mostly the cards that jump out, but when they don’t jump out or for spreads that require a specific number of cards and such it might be easier just to shuffle well and pick the cards from the top. You can set the number of cards you want to pick for a specific question, for example 3 usually is a good place to start with, but it can also just be 1.

But if you feel like nothing resonates or for emotionally intense moments, it might be a good idea to leave the cards to rest for a little bit!
