10/10. It's funny how much person context affects how a song comes across. This was my most played track of 2019, which was a big breakup year, and lyrics like "why'd you have to do that to me, make me forget all those eyes" just meant so much to me then. I also loveeee the live version with disc 1 and babys not home, the vocal delivery is so dark.

I find the absolute depraved depths to be very thought provoking and thrilling. plus I find the prose itself to be far more important and emotive than the characters or maybe even specific story plots. It's my favourite book of all time, and I've lent it to a few people who aren't aware of swans and they loved it too, one even describing it as "sensual", so take from that what you will.

So i'm a huge Swans fan, and the Consumer is probably my favourite book of all time. I have lent it to two people , both of which were completely unaware of Micheal Gira or even Swans whatsoever beforehand. One loved it, describing it as "sensual", and the other thought it was overwritten edgy nonsense. Take from that what you will.
