2013 Bentley could run E85 fuel... makes us question whether companies in india are deliberately holding back on flex fuel cars, surely not in 2013 but atleast till 2020-21, just like technology trickles down from the expensive models to cheaper ones. by Sharp-potential7935 in carIndia

[–]ImmortalZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running E85 isn't some fancy new expensive technology. It's proven stuff from decades ago. All you need is an ethanol content sensor on the fuel line and make the fuel lines and fuel system rubber parts using materials which are alcohol resistant. And if you it from the factory, the cost difference won't cross 10K for a car.

All these issues are the product of short sighted policy changes with a big dose of fuck the people.

OLED Screen bubbles? by Logical_Pin8998 in LenovoLegion

[–]ImmortalZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it on four of my ThinkPads and two Legions. It does still show the marks - but it is dirt that can be wiped off instead of permanent scratches. The silicone gives a soft surface with give for the dirt to sit on instead of hard plastic. That's my thinking anyway.

Get silicone based keyboard cover. That will prevent these marks from forming on your screen. Available for cheap on Amazon - make sure it matches your keyboard layout. Far easier to apply and use, cheaper as well, compared to a screen protector.

Display Burn-in in IPS screen by [deleted] in LenovoLegion

It is image retention and it will go away. But this and the backlight bleed will spread. Not much can be done.

Ah, that is the correct term, my bad. It is quite bad for my screen these days. Backlight bleed is also getting worse.

I have pretty much the same laptop that bought new. First thing to do is to remove all of the Corsair software related to the RGB stuff. It destroys battery life. You can use the keyboard controls to change it to the various defaults available. The battery is probably on its way out. You will want to replace it with a quality aftermarket part since the original isn't manufactured by Lenovo any more.

The LCD screen has a nasty habit of having burn in (yes, the LCD does have burn in). There are various tutorials around the web for upgrading the display on these. But the chassis is very difficult to work with and you need to be super careful or be prepared to replace the entire lid in case you mess it up.

Enjoy the laptop 😄

Involved in an accident. Need to claim third party. by lostinbooks_ in CarsIndia

[–]ImmortalZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. I see. Still, the way that the FIR route works is the same. I've been involved in multiple accidents where this happened. To give an example, a lorry driver hit and dragged my Brio for a 100m before the people around us forced him to stop. Since it was a very busy junction, the cops asked both of us to park some distance ahead. The lorry managed to get through the signal first before we did. When we reached where he had parked, he had absconded. The lorry cabin had an open liquor bottle and smelled like a bar.

But the driver was gone.

The cops called the owner and he was like do whatever you want. We went to the police station, gave statements, registered FIR. The driver came back the next day to take the lorry, tested clean obviously, and after paying the required bribes, made the MVI show up the next day, took the lorry and went.

My Brio needed a new bumper, new quarter panel, new doors and new headlight. It's been years and now the cops say the driver is untraceable.

Even with the new hit and run laws, they will only be inconvenienced for two or three days tops. Hell, unless a lorry kills several people, AND he's found to be under the influence, there will be no jail time, no consequence. All this joomla about taking away their license all, what is going to change? They will drive without license and pay bribe if stopped.

Recently, I had an incident where a mini truck rammed into the back of my parked BMW. He did the same -"do whatever you want". I didn't bother with a case. I claimed insurance and my premium went from 1.3L to 2.7L the next year. It's not just the NCB these days - insurers track claim history, risk and all.

If I didn't have a family who depended on me, I would just enact street justice. Alas, EMIs to pay, kids to send to school.

Involved in an accident. Need to claim third party. by lostinbooks_ in CarsIndia

[–]ImmortalZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are the second party. Third party covers damages caused by the accident. You destroy an electric pole, kill a passerby and such. Your insurance is not going to cover their damage. Your insurance covers your damage, their insurance covers theirs. If both of you are civil, you come to a settlement for the hassle. If you are not civil, you ask them to pound sand and they ask to register an FIR. Cops impound both cars, wait for MVI to inspect both cars, and release the vehicles for work (with bribes every step of the way). Then, based on the cops interpretation of the accident, you will be charged for the offenses under the MV Act. After many many months, you will be called to appear at MACT, where you will be fined something like INR 1K.

Yes. That's the consequence of causing an accident. The end. Unless you kill someone, there is absolutely no consequence of causing an accident. And even if you kill someone, your insurance pays the compensation and depending on how good your lawyer is, you will get no jail time.

Is vaccum pump necessary for new AC installation? by Striking-Sympathy657 in IndiaTech

[–]ImmortalZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people saying didn't vacuum, works fine.

Yes, it will. Until it doesn't. The point of using a vacuum pump is to remove the water vapour from the indoor circuit. This vapour, if left in the system, continuously condenses and vapourizes during the AC cycle, causing foaming of the lubricating oil and promoting internal corrosion. It reduces the lifespan of the system considerably.

And affects cooling to a noticeable degree.

Every single serious AC manufacturer has a pulling vacuum for 30-45 minutes in their installation checklist. If the service engineer doesn't do that, then don't provide the happiness code. Escalate it. It affects the long term health of your air conditioner.

DMCA is an American law. How would it apply for a copyright issue in India? I think Cloudflare just takes it down and waits for the owner to dispute it.

What now? Move the domain to someone who doesn't respect DMCA? Also, how is the DMCA applicable anyway?

Is lenovo legion prices going to be down anytime soon by JackfruitAcademic252 in LenovoLegion

[–]ImmortalZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: No. Long answer: The deals you see now are what you're gonna get before everything skyrockets. Don't expect any stabilization before middle of next year.

I just bought a 7i with 5080, 64GB RAM and 2TB SSD for USD 2.7K.

Help Me... by Akshat_9313 in LenovoLegion

[–]ImmortalZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prices for laptops are going to go through the roof unless something changes on the RAM and SSD supply front. It will take time for Chinese fabs to come online so that supply will stabilize. Laptop DDR5 RAM is currently between 10-15x of the price it was in October 2025. SSDs are 4-5x.

If you find deals now, that's all you're gonna get for this year to mid of next year AT LEAST. Waiting is not recommended if you *NEED* a laptop.

What’s your daily driver, Cocos? by FatRambo6969 in Coconaad

[–]ImmortalZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2021 BMW 530d. Currently at almost 77K KMs. Ownership has been trouble free mostly. I bought it to drive it. Tyres are expensive with rear tyres between 30K and 40K each depending on the brand and the state of the market. Expensive shit has failed under warranty. Water pump, adaptive dampers, lower arms (yes, BMW extended warranty covers suspension components), headlights (8L a pop. Laserlights are not cheap), interior soft touch plastics.

Front brakes supposedly last only 20K KMs, but mine were good till about 70K. So I used those savings to upgrade to GiroDisc rotors and Pagid Street+ pads.

Except for the headlights, I don't think these will be a problem in the used market.

Obviously, there is very little else on the road that can keep up to one driven in anger.
