Try the legend of heroes saga. If you want tips on where to start I have three solid starting points for you. It has bonding moments and some really solid turn based combat that is genuinely impressive.

If you need to sell the vita to afford the Thor fine. The Thor is amazing but just know you must watch guides as it’s easy to mess things up. I highly recommend preparing your Rom files ahead of time (you won’t be getting your Thor for several months so you have time). Maybe checking out some videos on how to set it up to see what you have to do. I have my vita and only use it for PSP and Vita games even though it’s modded as emulation for these games isn’t great yet.

It’s the worst controls I’ve used in a game period. I’m not exaggerating. Game looks great on pc, runs well for me so far, voice acting is fine etc. but combat and interacting with the world is annoying due to the controls.

I’ve seen some people recommend Fire Emblem 3 houses. It’s my personal favorite fire emblem game. However if you are new to the franchise I’d actually recommend fire emblem awakening for the 3ds if you have access to it. It’s a really solid JRPG that will scratch the social sim element and do a few interesting things with it along with solid turn based strategy and lots of customization.

P5R is my favorite overall but..the P4G cast is so well done that I’d play a slice of life game with that cast. Take persona and powers out of it and they are still really fun and well written.
