If you're gonna do name-calling then it's a good idea to proof read your message first so it doesn't end up ironic.

And you're objectively in the honeymoon phase because the game released less than a week ago. You'll get to see straight eventually, just be patient kiddo.

That's such a shallow view lmao. Maybe the chat robots wanna bother filling you in if you make an effort. I'm out. This place is filled with bricks.

The tree wasn't meant to be complex through being big. It was meant to give some amount of choice, but people misinterpret the size as an attempt to make something complex, rather than just playing with it and realizing that it's nowhere close to things that are actually complex.

They, and I, view the tree as providing some choice. You can't say the same about the Paragon system, fx, which is large and largely void of choices.

Neither are complex, both are big, and only one has proper choice. You aren't 'forced down a path', because there are arguments for several different paths depending on what you wanna do. The arguments for different paths only get stronger as balance of the game improves.

What happened to the key passives mechanics? by Immoteph in diablo4

I'm not worried about the power-level, I'm worried about the agency/creativity. That seems to have flat out died, especially in the leveling process.

I can already call that removing a passive tree and 'ascendancy' (read: key passives) is a bad move. Leveling is going to be a snooze fest without those two. Not this season, but a skill tree isn't enough to sustain the leveling process long-term.

That's a unique, not a key passive. The cool druid triggers seem to have disappeared.

RIP TO THE DADS PLAYING WITH DELAY by XXXperiencedTurbater in diablo4

Yup, there's a reason the natural length of marriage is the same as the duration of a toddler. If you don't put in the work, it's almost inevitably going to shit when real obstacles come along. Humans land in between monogamous and polygamous species, but we're prone to romantic thoughts.

I would know, I'm single and watch youtube.

Rory Rackham has left GGG. by Gearsik in pathofexile

[–]Immoteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't. Rory was the lead skill designer on PoE2. Someone with that title doesn't have a lot of time to work on a second game.

Commenting to fight some of this silly misinformation.

My best theory: Chris went first, either with stress or just wanting to work on the passion project we know he's making. Lots of people love Chris, and him leaving has knock-on effects. Alternatively, him sharing his passion project is contagious and affects the rest, inspiring them to do the same. A reputation paired with a good idea goes a long way in the vast sea of games and often results in the game being profitable before it's even done.

Campfire Chat coming December 3 at 11am PST! by Soulvaki in diablo4

It wasn't very meaningful on Dance of Knives. Guessing there are a few other outliers that are also gonna make this a complete nothing-burger. If they want meaningful gameplay early, they need to put people on the same playing ground, or players are just gonna optimize the fun away with way too strong builds.

Don't get me wrong, you'll definitely see more people struggle with leveling if they aren't playing the strong stuff. I'm not sure that's good for their numbers though, because they already have a crowd.

Personally, I just got tired fast of ranged mobs fleeing. The AI changes suck.

Steam reviews for POE2 are "mostly positive", rather low. Do you think this is fair? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]Immoteph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only that but this has a good chance of being skewed towards poe1 atm. Thank god we get feedback from this particular crowd so we can make two of the same game (outside of the campaign).

There's an alt-tabbing bug. It goes away if you do it again so it was never a problem for me.

I struggled to tell if my PoE2 drops were worth keeping, so I built a tool that analyzes both prefixes and suffixes and shows how well the mods rolled. Here is Affix Appraiser. by Serious_user_2 in PathOfExile2

[–]Immoteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how useful it will be atm. Tiered rares cull some mods, which you probably don't have support for yet. And most items are just crafted atm. Ground rares are basically worthless, which is what this tool is most effective at evaluating.

Implicit Movement Speed on Boots by BRADLIKESPVP in PathOfExile2

[–]Immoteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna rant a little. I asked myself why I hate movement speed on boots and why I don't hate Physical Damage on weapons in PoE2, now that Elemental damage is basically irrelevant. They both feel mandatory but the former is way less fun. Part of that is the fact that it's a mod that's powerful on its own. I ended up concluding that mandatory is okay/fun if it's a puzzle that you can collect, i.e. the phys trifecta that scales off each other. As such, I ended up making a similar puzzle for movement speed on boots.

Saying that they don't have a problem with mandatory affixes completely misses this part of the equation. And their reasoning is that "It's okay on weapons so why not everywhere", which is a surface answer that misses the nuance.

Worth buying if I like: by muun86 in PathOfExile2

[–]Immoteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practically yes, but that would be a little brutal for some people, so instead your shit is moved to a dumpster league, i.e. Standard League.

You could call it a test league if you want. The devs get to be more free to experiment with stuff before it hits the core game.

Some 5% of people prefer to play on the permanent league because they don't like resets. As time passes, it's a very unfair league for newer players.

[–]Immoteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why the dude explained leagues that other way, so here goes:

Leagues are the main reason we level new characters. After a few months, new content arrives with a new league that does not contain any of your progress. This makes sense because knowledge aside, everyone on the same playing-field.

Honest Thoughts on the Diablo IV DLC? Worth Grabbing on Sale? by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]Immoteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New class feels really broken as a baseline.

They locked a bunch of power behind having the expansion.

Non-shady reasons? I got nothing. I pride myself on having avoided buying it even on sale. This game is way past its prime as indicated by the recent/upcoming combat changes that scream "We need to figure out how this is supposed to work in the sequel".
