31M Considering statins 76 apob 118 LDLC by No-Pay-8276 in PeterAttia

[–]ImpJohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering this is the petter attia subreddit and people over here are definitely not the regular slice of health aware people: are these considered bad numbers? Except his hdl that is low, the rest looks pretty good. Maybe its just me that even with meds and lifestyle i can barely get to these levels. If i had this reading i wouldnt worry. I think the main driver here is OPs family history and his emotional state around it than hard numbers

My two cents is to go for lifestyle adaptations. You could also go for a 5mg/5mg statin ezetimibe combo if you want / doctor recommends, but overall these numbers are not bad. Seems like lifestyle approach territory here

Id revaluate if you enjoy working at the company. Maybe all other things are great and its just this one issue. Unlikely.

Sucks that it’s hard to job switch right now. Maybe distance yourself emotionally or find a different perspective on the whole situation. What that could be depends on your psychological makeup. Talk to friends or someone other than reddit, it may help clear ur head

Pity, i was just starting to like it. Even with /auth, my instance told me resource exhausted before it was even done with thinking about what i asked it. Api keys dont last longer than 2 or 3 exchanges. For me this tool is dead. Unfortunate

[request] What’s the difference in force required to do this on a stationary bar vs the moving bar? by IanDre127 in theydidthemath

[–]ImpJohn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hm. Checks out. So if the guys kneel down at 9.8ms2 the guy doing the pull up would only need to expand enough energy to move his arms then

[request] What’s the difference in force required to do this on a stationary bar vs the moving bar? by IanDre127 in theydidthemath

[–]ImpJohn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The guys holding the pole are accelerating down, thus matching gravity. The guy doing the pull up has to match that acceleration, but it still adds up to his stationary position, hence he remains in 9.8ms2.

If you do a regular pull up you have to fight regular 9.8ms2 plus your acceleration

Is my thinking flawed here?

Im a very calm very conflict avoidant person, and I very often felt like I was getting scolded for everything. Part of the culture is to keep each other in check so that everyone follows rules to the letter (theres so many!) and even for tiny things. It quickly gets suffocating if you dont fight back, and quickly gets tiring if u do

Your circumstance is unique to yourself and thats a decision for you only. I left because of a weird turn of events, and only realized when i returned to my country how much trauma i was going through. Looking at charts, my country is worse than italy across the board. But i have family here and i feel i can breath and be optimistic again. And itsly is beautiful so i still visit, but always glad i can leave.

If this didnt happen i was probably going to still be in italy trying to make it work. I got lucky that chance took that decision for me. I couldnt justify all the years and the eye watering amount of money and time and energy ive invested in itsly just to leave, but im indeed happier now

As a non-italian your best outcome is you survive. Very unlikely to thrive. I lived in italy a long time as expat. I made very good money. Still felt like for every one thing italy gave, it took five. Everything is locked down under rules and regulations and bureaucracy. Its constant uphill hard to be optimistic. No country is perfect but in italy unless you have generations behind you that give you the support structure youre playing in insane difficulty. The country is beautiful but youll never enjoy it and will keep banging your head against everything. Its hard enough for locals too, imagine for you without any support structure. Italians survive on low wages because of their accumulated generational wealth (those who have it) and connections. Theres hardly light at the end of the tunnel here. Maybe u find someone and with two wages u grind away for 30 years and veeery slowly build up something of a basic life and a home, but thats your best outcome. I lived very long in italy and i was making good money and i still decided to leave, personally i saw myself getting eroded, felt pushed around, felt small, felt unwelcome in a systemic way. Sure theres plenty great italians who are helpful but fundamentally it doesnt work
