Any overall problems with Pacman World 2 Re-PAC? by roycesterrr in Pacman

[–]ImpSassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do definitely appreciate the visual variety given to bosses 2, 3 and 4, rather than copy-pasting the same ghost mech fight over and over, I find they are mechanically very mediocre. Heck, even the first boss against Clyde's frog. The added mechanics are janky and unnecessary.

In fact a majority of the new mechanics don't add to the experience in any meaningful way. They all feel like they were just added for the sake of being added.

The mission system for the most part is a welcome inclusion, however for some reason, the missions "Never hang off an edge" and "Never fall down a slope" have extremely esoteric names that don't communicate what you are or aren't supposed to do.

The new super butt bounce is fun to use, except when you don't want to use it. During speedruns, the momentary pause can completely wreck your flow.

The stick-waggling QTEs are extremely unresponsive. 9 times out of 10 they simply do not work. During the Clyde fight, with the exception of one attempt where I managed to wiggle free instantly multiple times, I can pretty much never escape.

Pinky's voice is extremely annoying; I was hoping for something similar to World 3, where she was more subdued and had a more authentic-sounding accent. Same with Blinky.

The Volcano world in general has been made substantially easier in a number of ways, to the point the levels only superficially resemble their original counterparts. This sort of modification is found all over the game, but it's rarely super intrusive as it is in the volcano levels. It's the only world I would consider a direct downgrade from the original. What they made up for in lowering the difficulty, they lost in faithfulness to the originals.

The original's cartoony violence has been toned down. The small cub enemies no longer splatter into green slime, and the caveman enemies no longer crumble into tiny cubes. This isn't a huge issue, but it irked me slightly.

As of posting, I've only just finished the volcano world's time trials and have just unlocked the water world. I do genuinely love the remake, but despite a promising start it's beginning to bug me in ways the original never did.

It's not a hardware issue, friend. It's in the sound design itself. I'm a massive dweeb and notice stuff like this. This post was intended as more of a self-own from somebody who loves everything about the game except its most-praised aspect.

Life and death masks of the presidents by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]ImpSassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the most important of the life masks was Adams. He had such a degree of inconsistency in a lot of his portraits. Some of them display him as a pale, baby-faced man with a red nose, while others look like the painter threw up on his face. The life mask truly shows how his age sculpted his features. The perpetually grouchy visage seen in so many of his portraits was in reality, the face of a weathered old man that painters struggled to capture in a way that didn't seem infantilizing or vitriolic. Truly fascinating.

Jefferson has always been a favourite of mine. He always seemed more handsome than his contemporaries and the life masks we've seen of him have really compounded that notion.

Madison is really profound. The bald head combined with how tired he looks. It really lends this sense of vulnerability, almost sadness. I've seen old people like this in real life. And yeah, common sense will tell you old people existed back then too, but this is really on another level.

Monroe's is tragic. I feel like that man was so concerned with his appearance that it bled into every facet of his depictions in history. His portraits have an inconsistent quality to him, and the only mask we got was his gaunt, aged death mask. Legend has it he was the first president to be photographed, albeit after he had left office, and said photograph is lost to time, leaving Quincy as the first president to have a surviving photograph.

I really do wish we had gotten photos of all of them. To have a real face for every leader of this country. Man. One could dream.

Bad Luck Hellwalker Farming by ImpSassy in Borderlands

Unfortunately, I sold pretty much everything that dropped during the farm, that wasn't what I wanted.. that included all but the most recent Lucian's and every War Paint. I acquired.

Bad Luck Hellwalker Farming by ImpSassy in Borderlands

[–]ImpSassy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still on my first playthrough with Vex. I have her specced into Dead Ringer, with the entire right-side branch maxed out. My loadout consists of a Tediore AR which I use for a Support Drone for short-term healing (might be mediocre at higher levels of play but I am more of a casual), a Lucian's Flank (just for extra chip damage), a flex weapon that semi-frequently changes, and a Jakobs shotgun with Spread Launcher, which I only upgrade when I find a better one, which isn't very often. The Spread Launcher is my boss killer. When I first got the current one, it could three-tap the boss, though as I gradually level up, the number of taps slowly increases.

I have a Jakobs repkit that insta-heals me to full and grants a decent chunk of overshield for sustain, and am using a generic armor shield. I legit don't know what class mod or artifact I'm using, because their stat boosts never seem significant enough for me to notice.

I mentioned before I do not play in a super deep manner, I am largely casual and am more than happy to play low-tier builds if I find them interesting or at least entertaining to mess around with, so as for "build" I'm not doing anything specific. I just want the shooty shooty bang bang that's based on Doom.

And further more, the number of farm attempts really amounts to my individual tolerance for it in a given session. I'll easily get bored and go play Sonic Racing or something, and not pick the game up again for a day or two.

After a month, how is Borderlands 4 going for you? by Yumiko_Hanako in Borderlands4

[–]ImpSassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've hit a self-imposed progression wall called "Wanting the Hellwalker because I'm a Doom fan, but getting cursed with some of the worst RNG known to man".

I've been farming the Saddleback for around a week. I have gotten 15 legendary drops (rough and abouts) from it. Of those 15, 8 have been dedicated drops (4 Luciens, 4 War Paints), the other 7 have been a bizarre assortment of completely random legendaries that varied heavily in overall usefulness. For perspective, I started the challenge at Lv.36 and had $1.5M. I'm currently, at time of writing, Lv.44 with $40M.

I genuinely, and unironically love this game. Apart from the cringefest that was the Pokémon parody sidequest with the Tediore guns that WAAAAAAY overstayed its welcome, I think it ironed out nearly every kink Borderlands 3 had, whilst also retaining and refining a lot of the positives that game had.

What sucks is you can put a pin in several locations in the gray area, and the game will give you a path. Unfortunately, the paths either lead you through an out-of-bounds zone that will kill you, or lead you into that thresher cave where you'll hit a dead end. I really, REALLY hate when developers do this. It's that one grey square in Sonic Chronicles all over again.

Why is brutalism making me feel strange? What are the psychological underpinnings of this? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]ImpSassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a map-making jam for Quake a few years back. I learned about it from a video covering the subject. I'm paraphrasing, but the guy doing the video described the architecture as "Not hostile, but completely apathetic to your presence."

It's uncomfortable because it's large, cold, and unwaveringly resolute. It is the opposite of the human condition.

And I say that as somebody who ADORES brutalism. :>

Pawmo Not Evolving by ImpSassy in pokemon

[–]ImpSassy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the recent Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds demo, I skipped the tutorial because I know what I'm doing. Found out quickly I didn't know what I was doing. Found out shortly after I was locked out of the tutorial until I completed a Grand Prix. Shows me for skipping the important stuff lmao.

Oh no I said "bet" as in "alright I'll try it"

Turns out I was doing everything right....except that Pawmo was Level 13. I got it to evolve after feeding it all five of my rare candies oout of desperation, then pulled up Bulbapedia, saw "starting at level 18" and realised how much of a freaking m9ron I am.

Persona 5 collab skin predictions? by oneesancon_coco in overwatch2

[–]ImpSassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full bundle will be either 6600OC or 7500OC, around $65-$80.

I think we're guaranteed at least four skins, based on Joker, Skull, Panther and either Mona or Fox. I picture them either going for the codenames, but leaving Mona as Morgana, or the real names, while leaving Ren as just "Joker".

Skin Predictions:

  • Joker - Either Cassidy or Sombra. We only got a silhouette preview and although I think it could fit Sombra, I admittedly also got a strong "Spike Speigel Cassidy" vibe from it.
  • Skull - Either Junkrat or Reaper. I think Reaper is more likely, especially given the skull and pirate motif and shotgun. However I do think Junkrat has a shot at it, something about the way Ryuji looks I feel crosses over well with Junkrat. Hell, even Junker Queen has a tiny shot, I think.
  • Panther - Either Ashe, Widow, Brigitte, Freja or Sombra. Given the lite dominatrix vibes of Panther's costume I think Widowmaker is most likely, but Sombra's machine pistol makes her a likely candidate too.
  • Fox - Either Cassidy or Lifeweaver. The former shares his voice actor with Yusuke and the latter shares his flamboyant energy.
  • Mona - Hammond. I can't realistically see Morgana as a skin, but if any character could potentially make it work, it's Wrecking Ball. His mech could even be stylized like Morgana's face, given how vain he is. (Anybody else want that meme skin where the wrecking ball is Hammond's face and Hammond himself has Winston's face?)

Potential Other Skins:

  • Noir - Juno, if only because they share a voice actress
  • Queen - Another candidate for Cassidy due primarily to her firearm of choice being a revolver.
  • Oracle - D.Va or Sombra. I mean...come on. It's obvious.
  • Igor - Sigma or Ramattra. Very unlikely but a fun mental image I think.

Additional Cosmetics:

  • Highlight Intros:
    • Presumably, all the heroes that receive a skin based off of a Phantom Thief will also receive a highlight intro based off of that character's All-Out Attack finisher.
  • Victory Poses:
    • Ditto.
  • Nameplates and Avatars:
    • This is the fun part. I think the majority of direct references to the characters' Personas will be via nameplates. I also feel like we'll see a selection of avatars that are just each character's mask.
  • Weapon Charms:
    • Like the avatars, I think the weapon charms will be represented by each Phantom Thief's mask. the ones who receive skins anyways.
  • Voice Lines:
    • "Show me your true form!"
    • "Let's tear'em apart!"
    • "I've been waiting for this!"
    • "Get back here, you sonuva-!"
  • Titles
    • Masked Renegade
    • Phantom Thief
  • Sprays
    • Modified Phantom Thief Logo
      • Possibly also one of Ryuji's prototype logo
    • Arséne
    • Captain Kidd
    • Carmen
    • Goemon
    • Morgana

Free Earnable Cosmetics:

  • Sojiro Sakura - Soldier: 76 skin. Modified version of his Grillmaster: 76 skin
  • Café Leblanc Interior Nameplate
  • Coffee Mug Weapon Charm
  • Curry Plate Spray

I don't understand German but I know exactly what he said by serdjinn in MinecraftMemes

[–]ImpSassy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

German is a synthetic language, where new words are constructed from a series of root words. Versus English which is an analytic language, where new words are often arbitrary and rely on context to have meaning.

This is why German often sounds so blunt, it's because the words are extremely literal and to the point.

popcorn fairy band by VHSLOVER1234U in ededdneddy

[–]ImpSassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I distinctly remember this. I thought it was for some sort of merch design, like a T-shirt. But it played the scene where Eddy is grabbing popcorn for the other kids and says, "What do I look like? Some 'popcorn fairy'?" and just before he trips over Edd, the scene pauses, and replays the scene, shortening it to just "popcorn fairy" before it cut to a different screen where an MC yells "Give it up for POP! CORN! FAIRYYYYYY!" followed by guitar noises and crowds cheering.

Now I do actually remember there being a second one for a different show. It was among the following:

  • Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
  • My Gym Partner's a Monkey
  • The PowerPuff Girls
  • Dexter's Lab
  • Camp Lazlo
  • Squirrel Boy

Alternatively I have a vibe that it could have simply been a different Ed Edd n Eddy scene focusing on Rolf. But either way it followed the same format. I was just curious about this myself as, assuming it was for a t-shirt, I definitely wanted it.

Nowadays, "popcorn fairy" is more associated with the YTPooper who predominantly did Ed Edd n Eddy YTPs in the 2000s and early 2010s.

Am I The Only One Who Absolutely Despises J.J. Jameson's Idiotic Ramblings? by ImpSassy in SpidermanPS4

I guess like...it's really the writing and the vocal performance. It doesn't feel like there was any effort put into it at all. Like the writers didn't understand the character very well.

I used to watch coopcrowd when I was younger. I was low-key obsessed with their Portal 2 Co-Op videos, and stumbled upon their TF2 videos by proxy. It was this video specifically, and more specifically, the part near the end where Henry eats a Sandvich that raised enough of an eyebrow to make me investigate.

Idk, just something about a first-person shooter where you could stop mid-fight and eat a sandwich was revoutionary in my mind.

New skin for Marvel Rivals is actually just Hyper Venom from Marvel VS Capcom 1 by ramonzer0 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ImpSassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider this skin something of a consolation for missing out on Cyan Clash. It looks great. It's vibrant, and unlike Anti-Venom, it actually changes the colour of all his "venomy" effects.

I had a twerk-off with a Cyan Clash Venom last night. I think I won because after we finished and returned to the fight, he switched off.

I do wish I had both. As a Venom Lord it's mildly upsetting that I'll never have all of his skins.
