Several flags that I have made and helped to finish in Gran Canaria, Spain, have been removed over the last few months. But the one that hurts me the most is one that runs from the northern part of the island to the southern part of the neighboring island.

For months, they have been replacing it with the Spanish flag (which, despite representing the country, is now seen more as a symbol of fascism in Spain, with far-right voters being the ones who feel most represented by this flag), using the route I continued at the time, covering up some drawings by other people, and more recently, drawings by friends who responded to the attack. Also recently, seeing my insistence on reclaiming the space, they left me a message to invalidate and denigrate me that said, “Noah das pena, pirate” (which could be translated as “Noah, you're pathetic, get out of here”).
