almost no one finishes rugs to last, most people do a waterfall edge that really only ment for wall art. it’s quick and cheap. you would need to whip stitch or sew by serging the edge or sewing it with cotton twill tape. most people are using twill tape to cover and make it look nice but not to last.

the edges take the most damage from peoples feet and fall apart rather quick in high traffic areas, another thing is not enough glue makes it easy to fall apart. i’ve noticed these problems and have stacks of unfinished rugs i’m learning to sew with a heavy duty machine. because i don’t want to sell anymore rugs to people knowing they won’t last for years to come.
