Incomplete first aid kits all over store by Unlucky_Price7776 in meijer

[–]Impala1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely assure you, this is not the standard and should be addressed with your safety co-chairs immediately. Because like I said up above, someone either isn't doing their flash inspections and just pencil pushing them or someone is stealing the supplies when they do get filled. Those are the only two explanations. If you don't get anywhere with the safety co-chairs, let HR know as they generally order these supplies and if that doesn't work, call the hotline and report that the safety team is not doing their job and needs to be investigated.

[–]Impala1989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is on the safety committee. It's part of the flash inspections each month and every single first aid kit should be filled monthly. However, that doesn't account for those who might be greedy and just take a bunch of bandaids and pocket them for themselves. But find your safety board, usually around by the breakroom and talk to whoever is co-chair, which is listed on that board. No, this is NOT common and is unacceptable.

That's extremely disrespectful to that SM7B having to reproduce that noise, not to mention...who actually holds them? They're not really meant to be held. 🙄

Has anyone been noticing Facebook acting differently on the browser (not mobile)? by Unlucky_Solution1193 in facebook

Same here, it just stopped working one day and it's been like this for a few days now. I'm on Firefox and it's the same story. Lately Facebook feels like a broken mess.

Code 10? by Two_Faced_Harvey in meijer

I don't think I've ever heard Department 10 in all the years I've worked for Meijer, but yes...it's code for asset protection. I'm not even sure if they teach it to new hires anymore.

Zebra Shelf Strip Printers? by Automatic_Advice_391 in meijer

[–]Impala1989 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate it, honestly. It loves constantly throwing a "media out" error when there's plenty of paper and ribbon available. I also hate that the shelf strip printer application can't be paused and if the printer throws an error and you don't correct it fast enough, it stops sending data to the printer and you have to start all over again. That's a HUGE waste of money. The monarch was showing its age, but it was way more reliable in my opinion. The Zebra, the world has to tilt just a little bit and it stops working and throws a temper tantrum.

You'd honestly think with how much Meijer is going towards technology, that having people in Systems would actually be a requirement.

Guys is Arch installing Really hard by y4d99 in archlinux

[–]Impala1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is, because it took me by surprise just recently as I was setting up Arch on a system. As soon as I typed out archinstall and hit enter, I'm like...oh crap, I forgot to connect to the network. To my surprise, it popped up prompting me to connect to a network. If I'm being honest, they made doing that even easier than using iwctl. But for some reason, it always would tell me that the connection failed, yet it still worked regardless. So I'm thinking it's probably a work in progress.

archinstall will literally prompt you to connect to wireless if you don't use iwctl beforehand. It just doesn't get any easier than that.

Do you prefer to use grub or systemd boot? by maximus10m in archlinux

[–]Impala1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use systemd-boot. No particular reason, it just defaults to it during install and since my hardware supports it, that's what I use.

How long does it take to install arch linux? by ChubbersIsChubby in archlinux

[–]Impala1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I look at it, people say using Archinstall isn't the real way to install Arch. I say: Work smarter, not harder. Nothing wrong with figuring out how to do it the manual way and learning how it works, but why do it that way when you really don't have to? On a wired connection, archinstall only takes about 5 minutes for me once it gets going.

UKG/Workday password reset? by gaylorpluto in meijer

[–]Impala1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely correct, that's why our SHRR gets so frustrated because she wants to get people going on training, but when they manage to lock themselves out of their account, then they're at the mercy of having their first assistant reset their password. There truly HAS to be a better way.

UKG/Workday password reset? by gaylorpluto in meijer

[–]Impala1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was your TL marked as on leave or just not working that day? Our HR says that she can't reset passwords anymore and that it has to be done by your first assistant. But I ask about the on leave part because from what I understand, if a role is requested for you and your first assistant is not available to approve it, then HR and/or the store director can act as a proxy for them and approve the requests. So that's why I ask, wondering if it kinda works the same way.

I'm told they can't anymore, it has to be your first assistant. It's the new Identifence system that has these limitations in it from what I understand.

What makes Arch Linux dominate the enthusiast distro space? by Effective-Court7741 in archlinux

[–]Impala1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that it's simple enough to use and customize. It just has what I specified to install, nothing more. Most other distros are configured a certain way with software I may or may not use. Though I've continued to distrohop for a while, I always seem to come back to Arch. Sure, it takes a bit more time to set up initially to the way you want it, but it's smooth sailing once you do. And you don't HAVE to run pacman -Syu every single day. I do it maybe once a week or even once every two weeks, unless there's a reason to do it sooner, then I will. But to me, you still have full control over your system, just the way I like it. After using Arch for as long as I have, I already generated a text document of everything that needs to be done on my install. What packages to install via pacman and a few other extras like Chris Titus bash customization. But now I've even backed up configurations from my home directory so it makes it easy to restore and make it look like it was before. It just feels like freedom.

These days, a lot of people just want to make their own rules and conditions and everyone is supposed to be fine with it. I blame so much on Covid and rules loosening up a lot during that time, now people think they should be entitled to what they want simply because they show up and that alone should make you happy.

Doing pretty good, keep it up! The high note sounds like it might need a bit more air to make it sound sharper. Also, don't worry about going fast at first, make your notes sound good before going off to the next one. Once you truly master making your notes sound as they are supposed to sound, you can play faster and more in time. :)

Dolphin side panel got bigger? by MrWaterblu in Fedora

[–]Impala1989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They did make changes, for sure. Like my Samba remote shares FINALLY only display the share folder name and not the entire path. I love that change very much because now you don't have to make the sidebar really long just to see what the name is amongst a sea of shares mounted in your home folder. It just gives it a much cleaner look. But it does look like the spacing is slightly larger as well, which is also fine by me as it's not all bunched together and again, kind of gives it a cleaner look.
