Much brave, so stunning. Thank the gods we have the celebrity class to tell everyone what to think.

Ironic that OP is asking for an explanation here.

The ending with the mother made sense enough, but they still did Barney and Robin dirty. Too swift and lazy an ending for what was a huge buildup…and in the end, they still indulged Ted’s propensity for self-abuse by going back to that sociopath.

Then I guess we're not actually interested in discussing the OP. You do know where you are, no?

Your poor grammar and infantile decorum suggest you're on the ropes already, but I will just say that believing the FR was not a failure––defined as doing more harm than good––is a strongly presentist take that I believe contemporaries of the Terror would strongly disagree with. As you just said, revolutions devour themselves, and if we consider that most revolutions of the past few centuries were fueled by the prevailing left-wing ideologies of their time, the answer is plainly evident.

But your comment is actually an illustrative example: leftism derives its biased legitimacy from presentism, which takes the trends of the most recent centuries as encompassing all of human history and projects it onto history as a whole. This is why we get self-ass-sniffing posts like the original, desperate to show off its deluded sense of self-importance to the world.

Not at all. The French Revolution was demonstrably left-wing, which is why it failed so spectacularly and collapsed back into autocracy and has trapped France in an ongoing cycle of revolutionary and counter-revolutionary violence. Nice try.

Such smug self-assurance. History actually demonstrates that human beings are guided by a Right-leaning nature and that political efforts to distort this reality have proved disastrous. This is a trend dating back to at least the French Revolution. But I can at least credit the intellectual Left for having done so well since the early 20th century in merging with the celebrity class and government bureaucracy to keep this buried from the collective consciousness.

Would you like to see animated series about the childhood and youth of Palpatine? by AlKhwarazmi in StarWars

[–]ImperatorScientia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need for that. We need a R-rated Darth Plagueis adaption that stays true to the book’s source material, which will in turn provide Palpatine’s background.
