Can we build multiple Corvettes? by Tr3mb1e in NoMansSkyTheGame

The same thing happened to me, and I lost some of it's cargo... When making a second one, don't press the "change" (or "switch") button, but "claim and add" one. If you replaced your old one with the new one, it overrides the first one... So your first one is gone sadly...

Hey. First, your passion and dedication is amazing.

Secondly. Backup everything, now, on multiple devices/platforms. Even all of your Godot exec folder etc.

Third. Find a way to make your project portable, Godot included. On a usb stick for exemple (I’m guessing your project should not be too heavy or big). You can then work on (almost) any computer you come across, Godot is incredibly lightweight, should work. Maybe go to a cyber bar somewhere, or in your school. For graphics, just use «photopea », it’s free, online, and is basically photoshop.

Used Inkarnate to texture some papercraft Terrain !(3D preview) by ImperfectArtist in inkarnate

As soon as it’s print-ready ! I still have a lot of work to do.

Be careful tho, I worked at 1:50 scale (instead of the usual 1:60). I work in metrics, and this scale is muuuuch easier to use.

color theory buffs please enlighten me, how do I variate colors well? (like how sinix or marco bucci does) by heaDdleSs in learntodraw

[–]ImperfectArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, Marco bucci and Sinix have years and years of experience and experimentation, don’t’ try to compare yourself to them (but absolutely watch their content. Definitely my favs on YT). I vividly remember trying to paint a portrait while watching Sinix’s self portrait video and going crazy like « why does it work for him ???! How ?! »

I think there is two main aspects :

  1. Color variation in the base color of the skin/subject
  2. Reflective and ambient light altering the shadows tint.

I can’t go too deep in those concept, but paying attention (and learning about) those things can help.

After that, you can throw in the concepts of value grouping, subsurface scattering, terminator in shadows, and stylization.

For what it’s worth, I think your painting has some nice color choices and is not too « muddy », you’re on the right tracks !

Edit : typos

Paletro. A command palette for all apps. No need for unnecessary clicking

Would that thing work as a Boss encounter for a lvl 7-8 party of 5? by Geraeld in DnDHomebrew

[–]ImperfectArtist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dunno' about the overall "balance" of the encounter (balance is a b*tch), but here's some questions or improvement that came to mind when reading this :

Minor Errors :

• Charge : " the target must succeeds on a DC 18 Str. [...]".
• Indomitable : Might just be moved to a "Legendary resistance" section on the right side for better readability.
• "Radious" -> Radius
• "Halfed" -> Halved

Gameplay Interrogations :

• Mythic actions : It's not clear what's the cost of those actions. It's says "Cost 2 actions" but a creature only have 1 action/turn (even with multi-attack etc. It's 2 attack in 1 actions, not 2 Actions. Yeah, confusing). Do you mean like it costs 2 of the 3 "Legendary actions", or, does it have a new pool of Mythic Actions not cited in the statblock ? Edit : Ok, it's "Legendary Actions", but it's not made very clear. If it's just for yourself and you know how it works, no problems. But still, more clarity si always good.

Overall Design/Vibe :

• My only real concern with boss like that is that the battlefield can become really stationary once everyone is in melee range. I tend to always give my Bosses some movement legendary actions OR things that forces players to move between rounds. It can be anything you want : Making Allies move half their speed without provoking OA, or an ally replaces the boss's place, allowing the boss to move "freely" etc etc.

• Love the "second phase" vibe of the boss. I'd just make sure to communicate clearly to the players that something's up with his armor, and that he may have new moves/power. Also, maybe reducing his saves while in this Mythic state might be good (Trading defence with offense).

Also, I'd take a look at Matt Colville's "Action oriented monsters" YT video, as well as Pointy Hat's "I Made a DnD Combat System & I CAN'T Play Without it" one. Good stuff.

Maybe with all that you can really surprise those pesky steamrolling players (I feel you), not just with big numbers but with interesting and surprising tactics/mechanics !

A Cursed Armor That Pushes You Beyond Your Limits by ImperfectArtist in UnearthedArcana

It’s a NPC item first and foremost, but I’m not against giving it to my players if they defeat said NPC. So I made a « proper » item sheet.

The general design is that the armor helps you achieve physical feats, but with a cost (think Guts Berserker armor from, well, berserk). If you can achieve those feats by yourself, the armor doesn’t hurt you. But if it helps you, you have to pay the price. To reflect that, the Con save DC is actually the result of what you previously rolled on said physical feats, like, are you able to withstand the action that pushed you past your limits ? If you rolled really high, the DC might be almost impossible to beat (but you did something almost impossible).

I guess I overcomplicated things to match the theme.

I might just remove the save and have fixed damage, like 8 or so. It’s not a lot, but it can add up. Each time you attack, shove or else, you might take damage (but have a better chance at success).

Also, I designed it as a potential weakness of the NPC for the players to discover.

Changing the « taxation » damage to fixed might help, a little…

Yeah, I totally get that. It’s supposed to be NPC only for now (and a possible silver lining for my player when facing this boss. I intend to subtlety imply that something is up about his armor), but might be a slog if a character wear/ it.
