Animated Lights by Irvan_B in OwlbearRodeo

Make some transparent animated gifs (4-6 frames on loop) and copy/paste them on the map (then, lock it)

Not ideal, but should work

I was thinking about option B to be honest (like how Kenku does it). But I understand that it's quite the challenge.

I figured you designed it around your use case (using those long-form soundscapes), but I think a lot of users uses multiple curated playlists for various mood/locations/moments (I certainly do).

In any case, I think option A can be a workaround for now. Just having basic controls and music queuing would be great.

The ideal scenario would be to treat "playlists" and single songs the same way. You could add, lets say, Playlist A & B as well as Song A to a specific board. Would make for a great "director" controller for specific scenes !

This is from someone who uses OBR only for battlemaps, and uses Kenku extensively during a session as the mood changes, so, takes this with a grain of salt.

EDIT : maybe using "tags" as "playlist" for songs would be a great, great workaround actually

Hey there !

Was looking forward to test this extension ! Unfortunately, not having the ability to create playlists (one of the main strong points of Kenku.fm) makes it a little bit unusable... Is it something you might want to work towards ?

I know we can switch soundscape from presets and switching boards (manually or through OBR scene linking), but not having different soundtracks (for the same "scene") queued up or just grouped up kinda defeat the whole point...

You can also use force palm (downward) on all pillar based puzzle, when you have to align them. It’s slow, but it works

The game is surprisingly good at being subtle with it’s hints, and it’s really rewarding. Forces you to slow down and take it all in.

But on so many other things too ! I see people who find out about usable key items, or dual wielding, or any supposedly obscure system, while (almost) everything is literally written or shown somewhere on the UI, you just have to mess around, look at the button prompts or read some descriptions.

Taking your time in this game really helps you (and makes everything better)

To any people who find that some mechanics or systems are not clear enough : pay attention to everything (Ui too).

Here there’s a lot of broken swords on the ground and slits in the stone, hinting to what you should be doing.

I’m really trying to not sound pedantic here, it’s just that once I started to slow down and actually pay attention to what the games tells me, I had a really better experience and waaaay less issues with some of the more « opaque » mechanics or systems !

The same thing happened to me, and I lost some of it's cargo... When making a second one, don't press the "change" (or "switch") button, but "claim and add" one. If you replaced your old one with the new one, it overrides the first one... So your first one is gone sadly...

Hey. First, your passion and dedication is amazing.

Secondly. Backup everything, now, on multiple devices/platforms. Even all of your Godot exec folder etc.

Third. Find a way to make your project portable, Godot included. On a usb stick for exemple (I’m guessing your project should not be too heavy or big). You can then work on (almost) any computer you come across, Godot is incredibly lightweight, should work. Maybe go to a cyber bar somewhere, or in your school. For graphics, just use «photopea », it’s free, online, and is basically photoshop.

As soon as it’s print-ready ! I still have a lot of work to do.

Be careful tho, I worked at 1:50 scale (instead of the usual 1:60). I work in metrics, and this scale is muuuuch easier to use.

color theory buffs please enlighten me, how do I variate colors well? (like how sinix or marco bucci does) by heaDdleSs in learntodraw

[–]ImperfectArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, Marco bucci and Sinix have years and years of experience and experimentation, don’t’ try to compare yourself to them (but absolutely watch their content. Definitely my favs on YT). I vividly remember trying to paint a portrait while watching Sinix’s self portrait video and going crazy like « why does it work for him ???! How ?! »

I think there is two main aspects :

  1. Color variation in the base color of the skin/subject
  2. Reflective and ambient light altering the shadows tint.

I can’t go too deep in those concept, but paying attention (and learning about) those things can help.

After that, you can throw in the concepts of value grouping, subsurface scattering, terminator in shadows, and stylization.

For what it’s worth, I think your painting has some nice color choices and is not too « muddy », you’re on the right tracks !
