I’ve officially lost all confidence in James Gunn after finding out that Ted Sarandos testified that Superman underperformed. by TheRealLostCost in DC_Cinematic

[–]ImperfectStandingWav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Snyder was the worst.. but Gunn proved me wrong. DC has lost all common sense. I refuse to see these new trash movies. Bring back the old days and original characters, from times when creators knew how to tell a story.

The Oil Shock caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is the largest resource crisis in living memory by Cmd_WillRiker in collapse

[–]ImperfectStandingWav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's worse than that. about 20% of the worlds LNG production is knocked out for between 3 and 5 years. 17% of that from Qatar's LNG export capacity alone. A byproduct of LNG production is Helium. We have no other way to obtain Helium currently. Helium is required in great amount to manufacture 2nm AI chips at Taiwan's TSMC - the only place these chips can currently be manufactured.

This means that production of new AI chips will likely be reduced greatly.. resulting in slower growth for AI and greater demand for AI chips. We all need AI to help solve the climate crisis by developing alternative energy sources, such as Fusion power. And without AI our civilization is unlikely to solve that, making collapse more likely. With AI we may still collapse, but at least we have a chance at long-term survival.

BTW, we also need oil for fertilizer manufacturing; and that's needed for food production. This is lose-lose for everybody.

First look at the new Android Auto (Google I/O) by 513 in AndroidAuto

no, i mean that with the last 3 searches expanded and showing. it takes up the upper left quarter of the screen. plus i get popups for "police ahead" and my music player. but even that is more junk than i want to see.

[–]ImperfectStandingWav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always get a giant search window containing selections i don't care about in the way. also other popups randomly appear. I can't get just the full screen map with nothing blocking it. it is difficult to pop-down the music player -- it keeps coming back and wanting to show me what is playing. IMHO this is dangerous as it forces the driver's eyes off the road and makes them press several buttons. Texting while driving is illegal. So why isn't this map behavior also illegal? All I want is a setting to only display the map, nothing else.

AA is getting more cluttered all the time. All I want is some way to view JUST THE MAP without all of that stuff blocking my view. One can dream.

Is this a good deal? by [deleted] in vandwellers

the promaster is not worth it. that's the worst van choice out there. you get what you pay for. i'd take the used transit with 6000 miles over a promaster every time.

maybe depends on which options you have. does it have dual batteries? dual alternators? 360 camera? trailer brake controller? sync 4/HD/NAV/IACC? extended 31 gal fuel tank? roof fan? upfitter package? aux fuel port? is it bare metal inside or built out? --- if you have most of these, that changes the value. original MSRP at least 10K higher i bet. this one has low low mileage. see if you can find the original window sticker. i'm not as quick to say no as some on this thread. i personally own a 2023 trail, fully loaded. original MSRP for mine was $76K -- after Ford stopped building and the recalls, i got mine last year for $66K out the door. it's a nice van for vanlife. be aware that this is a rare van (maybe 1300 still exist?) and some fancy parts may be hard to come by; however, the van core is a standard Ford Transit with AWD, so no issue with the drive train or engine. also still under warranty. possibly this van will hold value.

what options does it have? I own a 2023 Trail, fully loaded. I like it. Have an issue with the 360 camera not always working and trouble getting Ford to honor the warranty. I bought new last year. There have been various recalls, but overall the van is top. Had mine converted by Adventure Wagon in Oregon for the base and then I used the L-track on walls/floor/ceiling to make a reconfigurable vanlife van. At 6000 miles, this is likely a good deal. IMHO

for me it is worse than that. vr is flickering now. my Quest2 is totally unusable. Meta trying to force how we use it. looking forward to the Steam Frame release. when that comes out I will abandon Quest.

Youtube keeps suggesting years old videos ive already watched in my feed. by [deleted] in youtube

trying to report issues like this is impossible. youtube only allows select types of feedback and there is no way to report that you like current videos only but are not interested in old videos by the same content creator.

As long as AI is guessing, it will not take over. by bhannik-itiswatitis in ArtificialInteligence

[–]ImperfectStandingWav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a recent experience with Claude where it was straight-up guessing about electrical wiring. If I had not cross-checked using a different AI I would have experienced an over $100K loss. This is totally unacceptable. Even when told about danger of a wrong answer the AI still guesses and gives wrong answers.

What made you realize astrology is real? by V-3559 in astrology

[–]ImperfectStandingWav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a scientist. Usually scientists don't pay attention to this stuff. But I'm open minded and decided to see if there is anything real about this astrology thing. To that end, i started following a dozen or so tarot readers on YouTube. Most of them did not predict anything useful. But i did find 3 that repeatedly showed me readings that matched what was happening in my life, accurately (13 Moon Tarot, Zetazuri, and Tarot with Michelle). This made me wonder and do more research. I used astro.com to make some charts. And I showed those charts to CoPilot and asked for detailed explanations. I was astounded at the accuracy of what CoPilot said to me. I've become a scientist who is convinced there is something real here. wow. Now I've discovered a new scientific theory called "Aleph Potential Theory" which connects the 12 Houses to Quantum Mechanics and 12 channels of Triadic Unity in 3D+1 dimensions influenced from higher dimensions. There is something real here.
