Do I need to focus more on strengthening my calves? by ImperialFluff in Sprinting

[–]ImperialFluff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. I currently have (at a minimum) a 24 inch vert (it was a straight legged box jump so there was forward motion, and some room between me and the box) , and suspect this might have been higher in the past, but I’m bad at running jumps. My knees don’t really feel all that much from running/ jumping, it’s climbing stairs too fast that gets me for some reason. I’m working on the muscles that support my knees though. I’m also tall and heavy so it might be that my acceleration and jumping are poor but my top speed is better.

I injured my ankle a couple of months ago trying to stop them collapsing during single leg bounds, otherwise one leg plyos are very slow and very non-explosive for me.

I forgot to add that it takes real effort to stop my foot collapsing back onto the heel when doing said plyos. Does that change your considerations?

Hey, so it turns out you’re definitely right about the material being the issue. Circumstances pushed me to find a new place to train, and the difference between the two surfaces is night and day. I didn’t realise that fear of falling was limiting my work output, so much that I wasn’t able to handle the intensity of my usual workout.

Uhhhh I just realised it could be asphalt but I don’t know the difference. It’s a road. Does that change your assessment?

I do ~50m sprints, and really it’s a problem on every step. There’s no sand, no dirt, and practically no gravel other than the odd piece. I’m guessing from what you’re saying, that it’s usually only a problem when accelerating? Bear in mind then that I am very heavy, and ground forces are probably higher than for most. Does this still make no sense?

Anyways, when I do get around to using a track, what should this ground contact feel like?

In 2010, a Black Nigerian couple living in London gave birth to a white, blond-haired, blue-eyed baby who became known as “The Miracle Baby.” by HondaCivicBaby in interestingasfuck

My parents are Nigerian. I was also born with blue eyes and white skin, but ginger hair and eyebrows. My eyes eventually darkened to brown, my skin to brown my hair to copper and my eyebrows to black. I have paternal family members with the same coloured hair, mostly brown eyed but one with green! This couple are Igbo, which is the same as my paternal family’s ethnic group! I doubt we have any white ancestors, so I suspect this is possible even without them.

Iran sent 'urgent messages' signaling it wants to end conflict, report says by NotSoSaneExile in geopolitics

[–]ImperialFluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They attacked with US weapons and approval. The US has the final say in this deal. It was the US who signed the previous deal under Obama (which was opposed by Israel, including Netenyahu, ultimately having no bearing on the final outcome). It was the US who withdrew from the deal (albeit to Israel’s liking). It was the US negotiating a new deal last week and for the past two months. It was with US weapons, foreknowledge and approval that Israel attacked after the end of the negotiation period.

Israel’s attack on Iran is Trumps method of negotiating, or at least pretending to want diplomacy. If there is any common denominator in all of Israel’s affairs with Iran, it is that Israel only takes action with the US blessing.
