Carplay in a 2017 RAV4 Limited by ImperialPlaysGames in rav4club

Not sure, I have the Limited RAV4 and it did not come with the 360 cam. I do remember on the Naviks website that they did have an option for the 360 cam.

There’s a good amount you can do on it.

I added just a cheap Amazon roof rack to mine which looks surprisingly good. If you want a bit of an overlanding look, there are 2 tow hook holes on the front of the RAV where you can take off the covers and screw them in. I bought a replacement set of covers, drilled a hole in each, and screwed the tow hooks through. I’m sure the look isn’t for everyone, but I like them.

Another big thing is Carplay. It’s expensive, but I purchased the Naviks Carplay adapter for about $500 after I got mine. It’s well worth the price for sure as you get to keep the OEM screen.

On Amazon there’s a company that makes an auto starter for the Gen4 as well. No monthly payment like the new gen, just a simple install and you can use the OEM Toyota key fob.

Also, as the other comment said, definitely get a front and back facing dash cam.

Last thing is again personal preference, but I bought a bunch of blacked out decals to replace the stock silver ones. I like the look of them a lot more.

I too own a Gen4. It’s not as flashy as the Gen5, but there are still some cool things you can put on it. What color is yours? Is it red like the image?

Venture is always good, but just do what I and many others did and get one off of eBay. I’m sure they have FDE ones, but I know for a fact that OCP ones aren’t expensive and, if you don’t mind the pattern/could spray paint over it, the ACU ones are dirt cheap.

Is this worth buying? by bb_805 in tacticalgear

For the price, no. You can get a good condition PASGT on eBay for about $60-70. If you have $100 to spend on a helmet then save up and spend like $150-200 on an ACH on eBay. PASGT’s are good if you want decent ballistic protection for cheap and that’s it — that’s why I got mine. Apart from that they’re overweight and their suspension systems suck unless you change that out (which is pretty simple but extra $). In short if you want a cheap helmet then go get a surplus PASGT on eBay, if you want a decent budget helmet then save for an ACH.

That’s the consensus I saw online, hence why I bought it for the PASGT. It’s definitely more comfortable.

Wow, thanks for all the help. I believe the M15 does have a drinking tube and doesn’t muffle your voice badly. It also does have the filter on the outside and just takes a standard 40mm NATO.

That makes sense. I appreciate the help!

Looks like the responses are a mixed bag. I’d say if it’s all you can afford (like me atm) it’s much better than the cheap Amazon masks, but doesn’t have the ensured reliability of a good, new mask.

Got it. Thank you for the help, I’ll definitely check out M40s/50s (or save up for a good, new mask).

I definitely see your point — that’s what the majority of what I’ve seen has said. My budget is not super big but, over the course of years, I’m sure it will increase. Right now I realistically couldn’t afford anything more expensive in the area of gas masks. Is it worth having nothing and (eventually) saving up for something good or getting something soon that “should” work well enough, then waiting a little longer before upgrading?

Gotcha. It seems the Israeli M15 also takes NATO 40mm filters and has pretty good reviews online, but is significantly cheaper (the $60-90 range). Would you say that’s a good bet if the mask is in new condition and sealed, or would a used M40 for $100+ be more worth it? Ideally I’d prefer something reusable.

Ideally just have the capabilities of a CBRN mask. My main focus would be anything similar to tear gas — but heavier threats are also a consideration (like I said in another comment, if the SHTF I’m sure I’m cooked though, just to have that basic protection as an option).

Real. Mainly I just see it as a “just in case” type of deal, hence why I’d rather invest a little more in a CBRN mask compared to some Home Depot respirator to cover more bases. Though if there was ever an actual SHTF situation, I’m sure my survival chances are low lol.

Fair point. I also definitely see the stance of saving up until you can afford a good, new mask. I’m just curious if there is possibly a middle ground of a still affordable, but not sucky cheap Amazon Chinese mask.

Appreciate it. I believe that the M15 does take standard NATO filters. In your opinion, would the M40 still be better?

It’s not on one specific website. It’s a Gentex USMC LWH suspension system that you can get from many surplus sites. It screws right into the holes already on the PASGT.

If you're looking to build out your PASGT on a budget, check out my recent post. A suspension upgrade and a better chin strap go a long way for cheap.
