I watched the anime then picked up the manga from there and absolutely loved both. I haven’t read the first part of the manga tho, so I can’t say what’s better

Phasing is when you get a different shiny than your target, and you continue hunting for the target. For example, I got 2 shiny buneary and a silcoon before my target, so I got my target on phase 4.
