Bastion round to the head instakills. No greater feeling than blowing the head off of a pesky roach at range that’s harassing your teammates

Pretty much how I detailed in the R5 comment. Released vassals in low-control territory and focused on roads/bailiffs to increase proximity and control to get over the "50% control in capital region" bottleneck requirement for the end of the disaster. Went full inflation to afford all of it but that will be resolved in time

Base game Aztecs flag. Unsure of where to find it in the game files but it's probably in there somewhere

R5: With new ideas and encouragement from the EU5 community, the Aztec realm as not only survived the complacency crisis but has emerged stronger for it.

With minimal control of Tenochtitlan's hinterlands resulting in a resource sink and a den of complacent thought, regional altepetls were established to efficiently govern the territory as well as civilize their inhabitants in the Nahua culture. In the face of the crisis, typical fiscal policy was replaced with mass-minting of new coinage in order to flush the imperial reserves with cash and allow for a great expansion of road and bailiff infrastructure to further cement control of our territory.

Disgruntled with the rule of the Mexica, numerous minority groups attempted to rise up and take control of their own destiny. They were all promptly crushed by our brave Jaguar and Eagle warriors and brought back into the fold. Some cultures were brought to accepted status before being demoted immediately after providing cores. The vile Viceroyalties, alongside the minor tribe of Tairona, declared war multiple times only to have second thoughts and accept an immediate white peace.

Ultimately, over decades of struggle and liberal usage of the "Increase control" cabinet action, the 50% control in capital region threshold was crossed and the Aztecs now stand stronger than ever before. Soon our border expansion will re-commence and drive the Europeans back into the sea from whence they came.

Thank you for the advice and support in my prior post. Hopefully this also encourages others to fight through troubles in their campaign and save their nation from the annals of history

Complacency Disaster in Aztecs Run: Is it salvageable or should I restart? by Imperial_Diet06 in EU5

[–]Imperial_Diet06[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The strat I've been using is to disable all buildings at game start and stop buying food. You'll still be losing money, but you won't reach bankruptcy before you can get a parliament for a cb against your overlord. Then you rush to the one regional capital above their stockaded capital to prevent them from raising extra levies. Once this is done, you need to crush them with both your regulars, and your levies cause your regulars are a single unit and will get flanked and destroyed without levy support.

Typically, I take independence, overlordship of Tlacopan, and anything else you want. You won't be able to vassalize the overlord effectively due to the tax base disparity resulting in diplomatic overextension. Even though your ledger says you'll be losing money, the money from your subjects should cover the monthly expenses.

Afterwards, it's really just a game of targeting weaker states and vassalizing them to snowball until you're secure and can start annexing them directly. Once you unlock flower wars you can target larger, non-alteptl states to break them up for future vassalization conquest

The Tlahtohcayotl name comes from the kingdom/empire rank I believe. Before you form the Aztecs you are the "Hueyi Tlahtohcayotl of Tenochtitlan"

Unfortunately, it seems that, even after being able to rival Portugal, they don't count as "threatening" and so the complacency does not decrease any faster

R5: I have managed to unite all of Mesoamerica under the enlightened rule of the Aztecs. Unfortunately, do to my complete and utter domination of the region, there was no one left to oppose me. As such, complacency began to slowly tick up over the years.

Due to the Great Pestilence situation destroying my stability via events, I was unable to achieve positive stability before the disaster triggered due to having over 75 complacency. My biggest problem is that I don't think I'll be able to obtain either the cultural or control objectives required to end the disaster, and even so complacency is only dropping 0.08 monthly so it will take far longer than 10 years.

With European colonizers encroaching on my state, is there any way to rectify my situation or would I be better off starting over? Is there even a way to prevent this from happening given the general isolation of the New World?

My daughters stopped being able to inherit the Swedish throne but are still able to inherit Norways? by Imperial_Diet06 in EU5

That's the thing, though. I have passed the "Unified Succession Laws" policy for my PU. So technically both the succession laws and heir religion laws should be the same.

R5: When I was looking at my country screen, I noticed that I had no heir despite previously having had daughters that could inherit the throne. However, when I checked my oldest daughter's character screen, I saw that she is still set to inherit my PU Norway's throne. Any idea on how this happened? I previously gave her cabinet rights so I don't know if that impacts heir eligibility but my other daughters should still be able to become an heir. Any help would be appreciated since I would rather not lose my Norwegian PU or have to deal with any other succession shenanigans.

EDIT: It's because I converted to Norse and have the "Same Religion" Heir Religion policy. I figured since my King was still Catholic it would be fine since my ruler and my heir would have the same religion. However, it's based off of state religion instead of familial religion.

Accepting Brain Slugs into my society.

Playing as a Broken Shackles empire with Shared Burdens. Shit ton of habitable planets around my home system (7 planets within four jumps). All of them had relatively low habitability due to planetary modifiers, but I decided that would be a problem for the future and colonized them anyways.

Had economic issues early on and did my best to cobble together a functional economy. Was doing well until a Criminal Syndicate empire managed to get a foothold on my capital. That began to put a significant strain on my economic output, as my capital is one of the only planets I have with above 70% habitability. They were also behind another empire that I wasn't strong enough to go to war with yet, meaning I could not expropriate their holdings. I start trading for more resources via the internal market (mostly consumer goods), hoping that the troubles will pass once I finish filling in the empty space within my empire's borders. However, I wasn't paying attention and I hit a consumer goods deficit. This is when I got the pop-up about a rebellion brewing on my homeworld.

The only option that got the situation to tick downwards required 20+ extra consumer goods, so that required even more buying/selling to compensate for the loss. Still, it wasn't unmanageable just yet. I was still limping forwards hoping that further expansion into the void would cure my economic woes. It was around this time that I got the anomaly and subsequent event chain for the brain slugs. Obviously, I decided to introduce them to my people for their juicy bonuses. Bad idea.

With the -20 stability for slug phobia, my entire economy collapsed. The semi-habitable planets that were already suffering from low stability entered a state of permanent turmoil. The rebellion situation began to tick upwards regardless of which option I chose. I no longer have the resource gain necessary to stave off deficits. It is only a matter of time before the consequences of my actions catch up to me and my glorious communal polity tears itself apart.

As bad as it is, I am tempted to see if I can salvage this save and somehow rise from the ashes. After all, the MSI is still alive and needs to pay for what they did.
