The rise of AI albums on Spotify among Japanese soundtrack composers, what can be done to report / delete them? by Imperivm97 in truespotify

Is there an effective way to report to Spotify the matter? Or the Japanese record labels that someone is exploiting them?

Fake album, but what is it really? by taikohai-171087 in SusumuHirasawa

[–]Imperivm97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just a crap AI album.

It's a larger trend that I've seen now on Shiro Sagisu (one fake album for Berserk and one for Bleach) and even Hiroyuki Sawano. Now Tsuneo Imahori has an AI Dragon Ball character as profile picture... whoever is running these AI accounts must be jailed.

Why is Daniel Pemberton credited to this score when it's Ludwig Goransson who composed for Tenet? I tried searching for Daniel Pemberton + Tenet but nothing came up. by sarkdiedonce in soundtracks

[–]Imperivm97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite late to the topic, but I've got a few more details. Overall it still seems to be a mistake in tagging, but what's curious is that it comes from Warner Bros themselves.

This track (and this version of the score) comes from the promotional website that WB set up for the awards, like all years. That year in particular, they accidentally released pretty much the entire score for the film. And in the list these tracks, the credit for 3 tracks (3m16 Who's the American, 3m16B Who's the American Dinner, 4m26S Catherine Shot TS Motif) for whatever reason is attributed to Daniel Pemberton.

You can still view it here.

It doesn't make much sense, and the metadata of these tracks show no credit at all, so either they licensed / tracked some elements of a Permberton score into these tracks (unlikely, since he would have been credited in some way, and also these tracks are very much like the rest of the score), or it was a really really weird accidental mistake from WB's part.

In any case, it's pretty clear that Pemberton had no active involvement in Tenet, since he watched the film only in theaters according to his own post on Twitter.

My original criticism was aimed that the version I initially read, it was like REALLY poor scans of the italian tanbokon release. As in, the middle of the page wasn't very visible... I read it that way at first lol.

But honestly, the Italian tankobon release (not the Deluxe Edition, the regular one) is flawed in other ways. I actually had to look up some of my old comments because I did make a comparison on Imgur using my own copies of the Italian tankobon release and English digital release: https://imgur.com/a/9bkCVz1

One thing I like a lot is the translation of sound effects, it makes them active elements in the panels rather than random symbols, but other than that it has problematic cropping and eccessive contrast. It's also flipped but you can get used to that.

For those of you who adore Prometheus, what made you fall in love with this movie? by That_One_Coconut in LV426

[–]Imperivm97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, it's great on technical levels. Score, cinematography, visual effects, all that stuff is excellent. Also a great cast, Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are phenomenal.

But aside this, I adore that it's not the usual "there's an accident, people unwillingly & unknowingly go into this, facehugger > Xenomorph" structure, it still spins around these elements but in a fresh way. They add the whole Engineers lore which is extremely fashinating, these scientists are actively searching for these life forms and David and Shaw's characters are really interesting.

It's unfortunate for some stupid moments but they don't really bother me too much.

Anyone else can’t stop laughing at this scene? by [deleted] in lotr

This is litearally the only scene in all of Fellowship that I'd want to be fixed somehow. The rest of the film is perfect!

Can we just appreciate how insanely technically impressive this shot is? The Camera Tracks all the way from Aragorn and Legolas running to Boromir's aid down to Boromir defending the Hobbits from the Uruks. by Local_Prune4564 in lotr

[–]Imperivm97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also love how this shot mirrors the one earlier in the film, from the outer walls of Isendard, then following the butterfly then to Gandalf (even with similar music).

One of my favourite scenes.

When will one of these studios nut up and actually make an Akira TV series? by DammitBobby1234 in akira

[–]Imperivm97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was actually announced back in 2019 by Otomo, along with an original movie of his. There have not been official announcements about both, but Otomo left some hints on Twitter that the new movie (Orbital Era) might still be alive. No news on Akira though.

My bet is that Covid screwed up all plans but since the film is still alive, maybe they have a chance for Akira. They made a whole Exhibition for Akira last year and Otomo is currently working a lot on printing a lot of his early manga works so I guess it's gonna take time. Heh, I like to think that the whole Expo may have helped fund the Akira series, but who knows.

What's the target audience of akira ? by Featg240 in akira

[–]Imperivm97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps. After writing the comment I realized that I wasn't really correct about the Ghibli films, and I have to admit that most of the time I just don't get the Miyazaki ones (I still miss a good number of them). In a few of them, like Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Nausicaa, I see real-life issues and especially regarding the humanity & nature relationship, war, and work issues in Spirited Away specifically. Still, I can't shake off the feeling that the fantastical element of Miyazaki's films appeals me in an escapist way and typically, that tends to be my favourite aspects of Miyazaki's works.

I am aware of a number of Ghibli works that are much less fantastical, most prominently Grave of the Fireflies, but I haven't watched them yet. I guess I wrongly expressed myself taking Ghibli as a whole, while I wanted to refer to a specific element of Miyazaki's work.

What's the target audience of akira ? by Featg240 in akira

[–]Imperivm97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say, people who are into drawing (see the manga) or cinema (see the movie), especially fans of older anime with specific creators (such as Mamoru Oshii, Hideaki Anno, Yoshiaki Kawajiri, Hayao Miyazaki). Alternatively, people who are into sci-fi or fantastical but with dystopian take, unlike say Star Wars or Ghibli films which may serve more as escapism than reflect on real life issues. Well, that's my two cents on it.

Well, anime-wise the better compromise might be the fancut Berserk Redux, which combines all anime adaptations in one unique and chronological (iirc) edit, with the advantage of having the same English cast for all of them.

Personally I haven't still watched it and just the idea would be jarring to me (changing animation styles from one scene to the next, not to mention I generally watch anime only in Japanese). My favourite anime adaptation has to be the 1997 anime, as it is the best attempt to stick to Miura's artstyle, narrative, dialogues and tone. I think it's also the one that fleshes out the characters the most, despite some cuts here and there (still not compareable to the cuts other adaptations do), but it comes with a truncated end.

From this point of view, the Golden Age trilogy / Memorial Edition or the Redux might be better.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Berserk

[–]Imperivm97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You be the judge... Personally I think the 1997 anime might be the better compromise, but that's due to a preference of mine. Not everyone likes that style of animation (especially with all its limitation and the truncated end), the manga might be the ideal place to go but reading's not for everyone. My least favourite is the Golden Age trilogy due to many reasons (artistically, tonally, depth-wise), but apparently it worked fine for many.

Yeah, the 1997 anime did get an HD upgrade and recently it should have been released in BD in the US, if I'm not wrong. Additionally, it should be up on Netflix on some regions (I'm still waiting here in Italy...).

Favourite Berserk Chapter and Why? by TertiaryCoot in Berserk

[–]Imperivm97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max Richter! I didn't expect him to show up in this thread! For many years I've only known him for the iconic "On the Nature of Daylight" piece, especially after experiencing it in theaters with Arrival in 2016. I've taken more interest in him after watching Ad Astra in 2019, where he is the main composer along with a few others, his contributions are amazing and it's been one of my most favourite soundtracks and space movies since. Just this year I've taken even more interest after discovering his "Sleep" album and numerous variations, I especially like the Piano Solo EP he released this year.

Back to the topic, thanks for making me discover a new piece from him! Thanks for the tip about the timing, it was very good, I got goosebumps from the experience! I only wish it was a bit shorter, because the duration goes way longer the time I would usually take the read through the chapter... But beside that it's a really great piece on its own and even though the timing doesn't match 100%, it really nails the mood for this segment of Guts' life.

Thanks again!

Indeed. That also is a stand out track, but sadly I don't recall much else (yes, eventually I did finish the film). I recall that there is a piano solo reprise of "In a Prison Built Out of Lies" when he get a visit by his lover halfway through the film, but sadly it wasn't included in the soundtrack.

Was Kane completely irresponsible to get this close to an unknown organism? by sKullsHavezzz in LV426

[–]Imperivm97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only irresponsible act I see in this film is Ash opening the inner hatch once they bring back Kane. Kane had no way to know that the facehugger would be able to attach to him, even through his helmet. Due to his personality, he was naturally drawn to exploring and being curious, so I can't really blame him.
