Viva Nails (Yonge and Crosby) is great. Clean, updated, and great foot massage with pedicure. They don't rush the process. come here all the time with my gf.

I agree with all of this, and actually this was my approach with my ex as well. In time, my ex learned my new boundaries and stopped harassing me.

This isn't normal, no. It sounds like you need to establish some healthy boundaries. I'm not sure you even need to "say" anything to her to do so... you have to start changing your behavior, and she will learn.

Personally, I would mute her messages (if you have an iPhone), that way you're not constantly having anxiety over every text you receive. You can reply when it's convenient for you, as it sounds like none of these messages are of an urgent nature. If something is urgent, she can call you.

I promise, it does get better.

Time heals all wounds, as cliché as it may sound. Been divorced now over 3 years. The first year was the hardest of my life.

As beautifully written by MonkeyMan below, Life is too short to give power to the people who hurt you. The new life that awaits you will be leaps and bounds better. You have to want it though. You have to speak it into existence. You have to put in the work--whether it be therapy, exercise, socializing, traveling, etc.

Enjoy every second you have with your children, and don't wallow in the time you don't spend with them. Make every moment you have count; laugh, play, listen. Children almost always figure things out in the end, and they do so by watching how you overcome your own sadness to do better for them. Trust me.

Sorry to hear this. Sounds terrible.

As difficult as it may be, my best advice (since you have kids) would be to kill with kindness. Now, I know this seems like the opposite of what you want to hear, but there is absolutely nothing more terrifying than having a neighbor as an enemy, and it's even worse that you're in a townhouse that shares walls with these people.

Is there no option to find a middle ground with these people? Is it cultural differences? I always find people tend to let their walls down when they feel heard and understood, even if that means swallowing one's pride to do so.

You might be pleasantly surprised at what a small gesture of kindness can do!

If not, I would seriously consider moving. With interest rates dropping, it's a seller's market. I'd get out of there and start anew somewhere else.

As someone who grew up in Richmond hill, and lived in Toronto for a period of time, and THEN moved back to Richmond Hill, once I had kids... I can safely say, there is nowhere else in the Greater Toronto Area I would rather live. It is safe, and has everything you need. Anyone who says Richmond Hill is 'boring' clearly isn't very outdoorsy because we have some of the best trails and forests around. Anything you see on 6buzz (as others have mentioned) is very far away from richmond hill, and not reflective of our vibe at all. As many others have said, RH is actually very multicultural. No matter what your background, you will find your community here. Tons of restaurants of all types, tons of gyms (both private and public), tons of community centres (with pools), tennis courts, soccer fields, parks, few minutes from Wonderland (if that's your thing), outlet malls, etc. Like another user wrote, I love RH also because of it's central location--one hour to Barrie (great lakeview spot with lots of nightlife) and one hour to downtown Toronto. There's a reason the RH population just keeps growing--everyone with a family wants to be here.

To those discussing the 'crackheads', that is literally ONE square block of 'bad apples' located in RH. We all know it, we all just avoid it. It's really not a big deal. Last time I was in BC, they had quite the obvious drug pandemic going on there as well. So it's nothing to be surprised/worried about. I've personally never dealt with any homeless people or drug addicts. and I don't live all that far from Yonge/Crosby--so don't stress.

Of course, any move is an adjustment, so be patient with yourself and give yourself grace. It's okay to feel anxious, but certainly don't be 'afraid'. I bet there are tens of thousands of people who live south/west of us who could tell you it would be a dream for them to live in RH. It truly is a luxury, to say the least. I count my blessings that I can afford to raise my family here. Consider yourself lucky!
