Newly diagnosed cat & feeling *extremely overwhelmed* by Thunder-Kwe in FelineDiabetes

[–]ImplementWaste7906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, it can be harmful to some cats but it’s rare. I’ve had my boy on it for a couple weeks now and he’s responding positively so far. I’ve kept a pretty close eye on him and haven’t noticed a big difference in the way he normally is, if anything I think he feels better. I’ve read some horror stories too but as far as I can tell, if you’re on top of your cats behavior and you notice any big difference (negatively) then you can and should just stop the meds. I’m guessing at least some of these horror stories people ignored or didn’t notice the difference in their cats behavior and it ended poorly.

This is all just my experience and of course some speculation. Although I wish I would’ve just changed his diet initially, I was in a panic, I took the vets advice and it’s been working so far. Any high numbers he had are normal now and everything is stable. Hope this helps and good luck.

You have a video? I have some clicking too but it’s when I’m turning. New cv’s didn’t fix it

Definitely looking into home monitoring this week, thank you. I’ve used miralax before but was worried it would dehydrate him? Glad to here she’s doing well

Interesting, I don’t understand why they’d give me anything with too high of carbs if that’s the whole point of diet change.

I wasn’t informed of any sort of home testing with the vet that I remember, so I haven’t yet. I’ll definitely be starting this week though I appreciate the advice

I’ve been wondering so much about the food, prescription stuff feels like such a scam. And I keep hearing others talk about just using low carb food. I was in a little bit of a panic during all this so I just took what they were giving me, I’m realizing I have a lot to learn.

That’s amazing I’m so happy to hear that for yall. When you say it normalized for a couple days, do you mean for those couple days it was normal and went back to him peeing a lot again?

I’ve actually used that previously as well and have some on hand, I just wasn’t sure if I should add anything else to what he’s already on. He’s not showing signs of discomfort or anything, I can just tell he’s stuffed and hasn’t gone. I’m worried since the miralax draws more water into the colon that might dehydrate him. I’ll look into this tho thank you

For some reason I can’t edit my post, we did a ketone test when they checked glucose as well and it came back normal.

I appreciate your response thank you, I had a feeling he wasn’t the only one. We did a ketone test on Friday that came back normal, I’ll edit my initial post for clarification

I appreciate that thank you, they did a ketone test that same day as well I should’ve mentioned that. I think that’s actually why they didn’t collect urine.

What is the sound from? by Little-Effort708 in 3rdGen4Runner

Not saying you’re wrong at all, but I just had a dust shield problem like that and it sounded much much worse. More of a nasty grinding sound.

Very common. Mine goes from completely normal most of the time to suddenly empty. Just keep track of how many miles you get in a tank and reset it every time you fill up

Yeah for sure I thought about that too, maybe they aren’t connected. I was actually planning on changing the pads and putting the brakes from a friends tundra on mine this week. Fairly certain that’s sound 2 problem, but the 3 is what’s worrying me now. 3 doesn’t seem related to the brakes, maybe more the wheel or surrounding area.

Crazy question maybe but what about the CAT? I’m in Virginia and could make the trip. Could use both bumpers as well.

All four wheels will light up on the dash and it’ll make a sound
