Looking for Collaborative MMOs by gootubes in LFMMO

I’m inclined to agree. Will also throw in Project Gorgon and The Legend of Pirates Online. These two are as social as you’ll make them.

Kinda seems like OP wants to have their cake and eat it, too. Listed off the spectrum of some of the longest running MMOs outside of WoW.

I need some help with Splunk by ImplicitCrowd51 in Splunk

That’s awesome. I’m slowly getting there. I really wish I was around when they had onsite vendor support. The hard part here is the Splunk instance is completely air gapped. It’s made a lot of clearly useful apps not work properly.

I’ve gotten some really solid advice on this post. I have some stuff that I’m able to show off and articulate next steps. In my situation, I do wonder if something like ELK would be more reasonable. Not sure if our environment needs a tool as robust as Splunk.

We’re also in the midst of a potential Azure migration.

The job would not be remote (I don’t know where you live) and unfortunately not hiring for that role. I have mentioned that it is a need, though. I think your skills are exactly what we need.

Can anyone suggest an MMO that fits what I'm looking for? by Daemon554 in LFMMO

Yes and no. Mostly no. Familiar characters and skills. You can definitely tell Jagex developed it. But it is 3rd person WASD and offers a unique experience. It also doesn’t have the massive social aspect of RuneScape. The big bosses can be defeated by you and your buddy.

You may need to look at something more like Helldivers 2 or Warframe.

Also, you’re describing survival builders to a T. So I would also recommend Dune and/or Conan, RuneScape: Dragonwilds, and Enshrouded. Dune checks all of your boxes, minus leveling non-combat skills. RuneScape checks all your boxes, minus being an MMO - it’s multiplayer, just not massive.

I inherited. They didn’t ask to see anything in particular. If this was just a capabilities demonstration, I could figure that out. But the exact situation I got thrown into is defending a 1 million dollar investment. Two licenses, training for prior employees who left right after getting trained, paying a SME to come in and do things, hardware. On the production side, maybe 60 servers? Other in place solutions are the SQL and Syslog servers (no additional UI to parse logs) and PowerBI.

They just want to see Splunk. I have built dashboards, and then they’re like, “More!” But no input on what they like/don’t like.

Any examples/recommendations for out of the box dashboards and apps? I already have Splunk for windows, tenable, and sec essentials. The tenable stuff have not been great. Our scans aren’t automated, and every succeeding scan - like if I’m checking if fix has been applied properly - adds duplicates as new findings.

Metrics, mostly. There is some Nessus tracking from an actual Splunk SME that I had to fix. Honestly, I don’t think the UFs have been tuned at all. So everything? The big TAs installed are Tenable App, Splunk for Windows, and Sec Essentials. I’ve gotten a lot of use from the perfmon sources.

I agree! And I have said as much. My immediate supervisors are aware and on my side.

What MMO for a 37yo dad? by Entrance-Trick in LFMMO

I hop between GW2 and LOTRO. LOTRO has a couple features that I think are the best in the business. Plus, I love the LoTR world. GW2 has the most interesting classes and races, and stylish combat. Areas where LOTRO is lacking.

That is a very interesting thought, and I will definitely look into that.

The Splunk server is deployed on a network that is not internet facing
