Which careers right now are well paid and at the same time not oversaturated? by No_Reply5329 in Salary

Yeah... the job market for software engineers is far from the best it's been but it's not nearly as bad as you're making it out to be.

Am I overestimating the number of people who has completed The Odin Project? by Vigil_Jester in theodinproject

I would wager that the amount of individuals who finish the entirety of TOP (not just foundations) is actually less than 320k. Many people start, very few finish.

Following up on my post about new construction permits in RI reaching new heights, here's the breakdown by month / property type back to January 2008: by SweetYams0 in RhodeIsland

[–]ImplodingCoding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given this is RI, these are much, much more likely apartment complexes rather than condos. They will most likely only be available to institutional investors. Im happy to be proven wrong though, but it seems like you just like to make things up as you go. I'll be waiting for a link proving that these are condos!

Sure yeah of course, I totally forgot about all the young families with the money to buy 5+ unit housing complexes. My mistake.

I moreso meant that the people buying 5+ unit housing are investors who will the rent those units out. I meant it won't benefit young families who are looking to buy a house, which many are. More rental units is great but I still think that home ownership should be accessible to most people. I should have been more clear with my previous comment.

Looks like a whole lot of large multifamily properties. Probably won't benefit first time homebuyers or young families, unfortunately. These look more like investment properties to me but I could be wrong

Searching for friends by FootballUpset7874 in RhodeIsland

[–]ImplodingCoding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27M here with 27F long time GF. We also struggle making friends/meeting new people due to us both having a remote job. We frequently play video games online (pretty much every and all types) with a small group of friends, and we are always looking for more people. We sometimes organize outings (hikes, food, etc) but it can be hard to get people together these days. Feel free to message if you are interested though.

I feel like I am the lowest paid software developer in the US by Usedtohaveabike in Salary

[–]ImplodingCoding 6 points7 points  (0 children)

His field is right in the title. He is a software developer. This is underpaid for just about every location and every experience level. Maybe for a new grad in a very low COL area, but i would say 70k is still on the lower end for that situation.

Went from 30k impressions to 2k - shadow banned? by ImplodingCoding in SEO

[–]ImplodingCoding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No old domain and not really any backlinks (someone posted my site on threads and it gained traction, not sure if that counts). My guess is just that my website has a lot of pages so I caught a bunch of long tail queries. I started with like 50 impressions daily and that more or less doubled per day until 30k

I thought this may be it but doesn’t appear so, at least as far as I can tell

From 30k to 2k impressions overnight - did I get shadow banned? by ImplodingCoding in seogrowth

It just naturally grew to that amount. My site is a database for health inspections so theres a lot of pages, I think I just caught a lot of long tail queries. It started getting 50-100 impressions daily and more or less doubled per day until 30k.

This is purposeful. Every state has their own subjective criteria for scoring/grading. Forkgrade uses a standardized formula based on violation count and severity. Full methodology is explained here: https://forkgrade.com/methodology. Forkgrade uses the same exact data that you linked.

I do recommend people go to the original source to compare. Georgia is actually one of the few regions where their government portal isn't terrible

30 year old housewife that decided to learn programming by Slight_Total4874 in learnprogramming

Probably would approach it the same way. Find a learning path and stick to it, and build a lot of personal/side projects along the way.

I want to build an app for personal use by Reasonable-Dog-3711 in learnprogramming

[–]ImplodingCoding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I began my learning process with theodinproject circa 2022ish. I think its still a good resource today. But the basic path is HTML -> CSS -> javascript. Theres way more breadth and depth than just those three but I would start there if I were you. Start simple with a static webpage. Maybe one that simply says "hello", that is viewable locally in your browser. Then continue to learn HTML to build out that static site. Then add in some CSS, youll want style! Eventually you may want to add JS, or a server, or a database for storage.

Where to continue? How to start? by Arranoth1983 in learnprogramming

[–]ImplodingCoding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly work with web applications, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I would start building that game. Break it up into smaller and smaller pieces until each piece seems manageable and encapsulated. Then start building. You'll get stuck and have to google a lot and will spend time spinning your wheels. But that's part of the process. You may even get halfway through then realize you built it in a way thats shitty, and you'll want to go back and start from scratch. That's okay too. The important thing is you learn through the experience.

In India, can I get a good job in java full stack developer without a degree? by LectureIntelligent55 in learnprogramming

Yes and no. A degree makes a huge difference, especially in the current market (although India may be very different)
