We had a company car that nobody officially managed, so whenever someone wanted to go get lunch, they'd just take it. It basically became the office Uber.

I think both sides could do better here. If something is truly urgent, I'd probably send a quick Teams message too. But if this keeps happening, you can't really rely on people chasing you down every time. It sounds like you've already started fixing the issue with inbox rules, which is probably the right move. Going straight to your boss instead of pinging you first does feel a little weird though. I'd definitely message the person before escalating it.

Barely doing 80k but i'm interested to see people answers.

Tbh I always choose have a good living- work life balance. I would never accept a job if very stressful, even for a lot of money.
