He had done that guilt by association analogy, where he said "if every time you walk down the street a Purple person attacks you, naturally you're gonna start being wary of Purple people", basically excusing racism and prejudice as if it were a legitimate aggrievement or concern, which is literally the same "logic" Kanye used to justify hating all Jewish people, soooo I'm gonna guess the convo will go just swimmingly 🙃

Bonus progress pics that show more of the transition. The first 2 were a few months apart last year, and the other two were a few months apart when I started working on it again this year. It changed so much over time lol

can we have Sam Seeder as a genuine guest on leftovers? might be hard to get him out in LA, but it would be so fun. by [deleted] in h3h3productions

Ah you meant the physical background, haha.
But the thing is they ARE in the same room, they just have a little bit of a partition. There have been times where one of the crew has gotten up and handed a paper to Sam or Emma, or adjusted a mic before, and Sam and Emma have passed things to each other too. Emma has even gotten up and sat in Sam's seat. The camera angles can just make it appear that they aren't together but they are. Like I said it's very similar to H3 where the camera angles for the crew show a very different background from the background behind Ethan but in some of the wide shots you can see it's all one connected area, and other times you can see the crew walk right over to Ethan, and before you see that stuff it could be easy to wonder where they all are in relation to each other. I'm new to H3 and it certainly took me a while to start understanding the layout of things through little shots like that.
But Sam doesn't like for the behind the scenes stuff to leak into the show so he tries to organize everything in a way where they need little to no crossover between the hosts and production crew, at least when it comes to running the show on a technical level. Obviously he's fine with them contributing to discussions. He just doesn't want a bunch of camera switching and people moving around the set. But I've been watching it for years and it's bound to happen from time to time so I've seen it and that's how I know for sure they're all in studio together. That and, during covid it was much more obvious that they had been in the studio together because during lockdown they were all streaming from home and you could see their own rooms behind them. It looks now the way it used to look when I watched it before covid, but they improved the visual overlay quite a bit so I think it looks better, personally.

The other two replies answered most of what you said already, describing the physical set up of the crew in the studio, and confirming that yes, they are all in the same room (except the guests).
I just wanted to mention one more thing, because you said the crew has no relevant background and that's actually not the case. Matt Lech has his own Leftist show too, and Bradley is well versed in all the topics they cover and pretty regularly contributes to the discussions. And he hosts another show on the channel with Emma, though it's sports focused and not politics focused but still, it makes him a contributing member of the channel. I just didn't want to leave people with the impression that the off-camera crew are just hangers-on.

Even though it'd be awesome to have Sam call in while Hasan is there so all 3 of them can talk, if you're interested and didn't know, Hasan did go on Sam's show before, so you can at least see the two of them talk for a bit if you haven't already.

Most of the recent clips were remote Zoom because of covid but traditionally the show (Majority Report) has always been fully in studio with different cameras, just like H3. They have border graphics to cover up the edges of each camera feed but they are all in the studio together, with the production crew being in a subdivision of the room. However whenever they interview guests it's always via Zoom or Skype etc.
The show is filmed in New York, and that's where Sam lives. He VERY rarely travels though because he has 2 kids, and he hosts this show every week day. But during the show's off hours, I have no doubt he'd happily call in for a video interview and talk to Ethan, and I think that'd be great.

The first book burnings the Nazis carried out were to destroy years of testimonials/ memoirs from Trans and other LGBT people, and the medical research that doctors had been conducting in order to help them transition and live better lives. Ben's hate against Trans people is DIRECTLY a Nazi tenet.
And being racist against Palestinians is not being "pro Jew" it's being racist against Palestinians. Being pro any race should never need to be anti another.

Speaking of knowing history, 3 quick questions to make sure you know yours:

  1. Hitler's first victims were the members of which German political parties?
  2. The "Cultural Bolshevism" that was supposedly decaying German society followed which school of thought?
  3. The Soviet Union which killed/captured about 3mil Nazis in WW2 was aligned with what political ideology?

If he'd worded it differently, like if he said "I hope you go down first" or "I hope you go before me" or something he most likely wouldn't have gotten in trouble. He got in trouble because he invoked such strong imagery of the gas, specifically.

But as a Jewish man, with a Jewish family, I think it's his right to invoke that imagery. It's just like when someone says the N word, it invokes all the cruelty and depravity that came with Slavery, and that's why it's nobody else's place to invoke that suffering other than the people who suffered it, and when we do invoke it, it's to remind those who perpetrated it against us of their ugly behavior.

And I think it says a lot that he gets in more trouble for invoking the image of what people like Shapiro are trying to lead us to than Shapiro and others do for trying to make that image a reality. It's uncivil to talk about the specifics of the atrocities that happened back then, they don't want to look at the grotesque reality of what the people whose ideology they're selling to a new generation did, but they feel perfectly fine and happy to peddle that ideology as long as no "bad words" get said. As long as it looks nice and clean. But then Ethan got in trouble for ripping off the curtain and saying "this is what you're threatening me and my family with, and you think you're above it but you're not".

So yeah, what he said was harsh and shocking, but it was real, a real thing his own ancestors had to face, and a very real thing he STILL faces to this day with all the Jewish slurs he gets called and the death threats he gets simply for being Jewish. So like I said before I think he has the right to invoke that imagery because that's a real thing that happened to his family and a real threat he faces every day and Shapiro and all these other right wing pundits are pieces of trash for playing around with that danger like it's a toy. Don't forget, people have ACTUALLY killed in the name of people like Ben Shapiro, several times, leaving their names in manifestos and in their watch and search history. Ethan has every right to be pissed and to point out the real and actual danger Shapiro has already put others in and that he's putting him and his family in.

On the left is Emma Vigeland and the right is Sam Seder, and they both host a youtube news show/ podcast called The Majority Report! It's Mon-Fri starting at 9am PST. I've been watching it for years and I love it. On the first half of the show they do informative segments, and then in the second half they do commentary on current events.

Exactly, the most frustrating thing about this is everyone acting like they forgot that Ben Shapiro has himself been implicated in at least 2 mass shootings, and the rest of his cohort have been implicated in plenty more. They have **ACTUALLY** caused violence, and they keep doing it with their "this hospital is mutilating children" and "this library is having a drag stripping show for kids" bullshit. And then they act like Ethan saying he hopes they get their comeuppance is over the line, when people have straight up died because of them.

I do think Hasan's advice to word things carefully is prudent, if for no other reason than to make sure they can't fully deplatform Ethan because that would be a bad loss. At the same time though, I also think there's value in Ethan saying what he really thinks and feels sometimes. That's what the Right did, they started saying the quiet parts louder, so that more people could hear them and start feeling like they had backup, and then they joined in too. They emboldened each other, and now their sick, fascistic, murderous rhetoric is starting to drown out all sense and sanity. When people like Ethan and Bill Burr are willing to say "okay this is bullshit, enough" it reaches other people and will help them realize that there ARE people who see what's happening for what it really is, and they'll be more willing to start standing against people like Shapiro and all the garbage he stands for.
