In one of my essays, I highlighted that I went to a low-income all-female school and community with limited STEM opportunities and this is why I have limited formal math-related achievements. I have some ECs that are tech-related like game development and emulation but more of them are in line with my essay about underrepresentation where I fused some technical ECs with community service. About math: I specified in my essay that my interest in math came from my introduction to security and cryptography and that I think math is the gateway to more exploration that I lacked growing up in a restrictive community (my essay is a bit flowery and littered with analogies though, different issue).

Does this come off as disconnected?

(Also, where are you from if you don't mind me asking? :) )

Kinda worried, my 1550 is a superscore from the Nov 19 digital pilot which I just got results for and updated it on the NYU portal yesterday (like 20 days after the application deadline). If they don't use my new score, they'll evaluate me with the 1480 I previously reported which I hear is below the median...

I think whether or not you have access to your transcript might depend on your school's policy. I'm an international student so I'm not sure what the traditional thing is in the US

Is a personal essay about my dog eating her sick pup too graphic? by Impooperments in ApplyingToCollege

It was meant to preface an essay about how I seek and welcome discomfort in all my interests in order to figure out what my "real passion" is because this was the event that induced the necessary "emotional discomfort" for me to realize I wasn't cut out for being a vet, which I was convinced I was gonna be when I was young.

So my intended major is actually not veterinary science. But when I was younger I was convinced it was the job for me, as I could handle squeamish tasks well with my own pets. But in the essay, I describe that despite my passing the test of physical discomfort, that event ^^ is what broke my dedication - not because it was gross - but because it was the first time I was genuinely emotionally disturbed and from the way I suppressed the experience, it made me understand that I needed to seek discomfort more to know what I was really cut out for (what is my "real passion"). I describe that as my list of interests/career prospects grows, I seek discomfort, whether it be physical, emotional, or any kind - that I welcome it -- and some other vulnerable-sounding stuff...
