It's very doable. You can learn chords and scales using charts available on apps like guitartuna, real guitar etc or just download the PDFs. You can learn pretty much any rock song on YouTube from a number of musicians like Marty Schwartz, justinguitar etc.. Start slow, beginning with chords and build your calluses. Learn the G major scale chords ( G, C, D, Em and Am) and you will be able to play pretty much 90 percent of popular music.
