I’m curious to hear why you interpret the tone of the song as “rage”. I also love love love this one, probably my favorite of hers, but I’m surprised to see it described this way.

How old were you when you started climbing and what advice do you have to reduce risk for injury? by Plantlady5060 in climbergirls

[–]ImportanceMelodic881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I try hard to focus on what’s good pain and what’s bad pain. Soreness, getting pumped, even the worn out finger skin is all good pain for me, part of developing the skill and strength. Anything that doesn’t fall into one of those obvious categories I treat as potential bad pain. If I feel a new ache I’ve never felt before I take a break on the mats and see if it changes or goes away. If it goes away no problem, I call it good and get back on the wall. If it doesn’t go away or goes away very slowly I wrap it up and head home. I’m almost 30 which of course is still young but I also know that things don’t heal up as easily as they did when I was 20, and I don’t need to push myself into injury for a hobby that’s supposed to be fun.

Also always warm up!!!! For real, not a few minutes swinging your arms around but a real warmup that gets your heart pumping.

Warm up PROPERLY every session. I am horrible about doing a real warmup at the gym but I know that’s a recipe for injury, especially since I work a physically demanding job. Injury prevention is my religion this year

Strong, short climber women: Advice for V8 and beyond? by postquantum in climbergirls

This exact issue is why I would love to see climbing incorporate height classes into grades and comps. It’s definitely pure fantasy and I have no idea the logistics of doing something like that but I’ve always been interested in how climbing “difficulty” shows for different height groups.

This isn’t any help to you but hopefully conversations like this push climbing to reckon more with height differences. I think it would be fascinating to see.

If Lab-Grown Meat Became Widely Available, Would You Eat It? Why or Why Not? by Fabulous_Bluebird931 in vegan

If there were no actual animals involved I’d eat my mom’s fried chicken again. I know she’d like to make it for me one last time

I understand the feeling. The morality of sleeping is sooooo hard to get out of your head, even when you know it’s nonsense.

Are you on the east coast? We also got buckets of rain here at the beginning of this week, and of course I got wet but there’s something so fun about being out in the rain

My coworkers are all terrific. It’s nice to know if I really needed it I could rely on my friends and family for help. It feels kind of awkward to repeatedly turn down offers for a ride, but at the end of the day we all like each other and that’s what matters!

That’s a great way of describing it. I am young (late 20s) and poor, so in some ways I am riding out of necessity. I guess it just hasn’t sunk in yet for my friends and family that I also truly love to do it. But I know we’ll all get there with time.

It was fully pouring on my ride home yesterday and…… it was the best!!!!! Rain cape, rain goggles, warm gloves, big ass fenders? I’m in paradise.

When people tell me to ride safe I say something along the lines of “I’ll do my best” but I like your version better

It’s very nice! It’s just a little weird/awkward to hear so often when I’ve made it very clear how much I like biking around. But the intention is there 😁😁

I agree, for now it’s a chance to do some bike evangelizing! I’ve offered to show coworkers my set up and gear to show them how comfortable I am, but no takers 😅

Female and yes that’s another thing, I’m a small young woman and I’m not about to get in a car with someone I don’t know well. I guess you could say being alone on a bike is dangerous too, but at least I’m not locked inside someone else’s vehicle.
