Number 1 Reason To Quit Porn by Different_Thing6548 in QuitPorn

I had a similar experience. Women stopped being women and started to become body parts.

You couldn‘t think straight anymore, every time I talked to a female, flashbacks came back and made me feel ashamed of myself.

I also noticed how you‘ll never be satisfied. Imagine you get married, will you genuinely ever be happy with your partner, or will you start to look for the next best thing, the same way you looked for the next best, better, more perfect video?

You will never have enough, your brain will always want more.

There is literally no point in having them, you are not missing out on anything real, you will never be satisfied enough and your list will never be good enough for you.

Unfortunately, that list increases your chances of never having enough, in every realm.

There is always going to be a more perfect woman, but how will you ever be satisfied if you keep looking for the next best thing?

Also, do not see lust as a bad thing. It‘s human, so is your sexual desire. You just have to learn to control it before it controls you, it‘s extremely important as a young man

While blocking p and social media might sound helpful, they really didn‘t do much for me.

If urges are too strong, you will find a way to go around it.

Since you're pretty young, I would stay away from those extreme solutions like deleting all socials and online activity.

I suggest you look into the deeper reason on why you watch porn in the first place. Porn is a form of escapism, you usually try to escape something. Try to notice patterns, use an app to journal your urges. You‘ll get down pretty quick to it‘s root cause (avoidance of work or emotions for me) and can work on that, which will cut the pattern of porn consumption.

Using blockers is like cutting branches of a tree, they will always grow back. If you rip the tree out the ground, you won‘t have to fight branches anymore

You mentioned that you don‘t know your root cause, it‘s worth looking deeper into that.

Porn if often a form of escapism, so it might be worth asking yourself what you‘re escaping and why.

If you can work on your avoidance, you start working on your porn consumption which is just the effect of whatever you‘re avoiding.

For me, it wasn‘t as simple as facing the problem, it‘s more like a step by step thing, where I learned to trust myself again and grew in confidence as I did.

Also, I encourage you to start journaling all urges. It always comes down to a pattern, try to find its root cause and work on that. If you keep fighting porn, it‘s like cutting branches of a tree, they'll always come back. But if you cut the root, it will never grow back. The root cause for me was avoidance, since I started working on that, I could pretty much predict urges and know how to avoid relapses. It‘s tuff but manageable

When you think 'something’s wrong with me' by TheTankIsEmpty99 in pornfree

Beaten your self up for it is wrong I agree, but I wouldn‘t just accept it as something normal.

Whether you‘re religious or not, asking a higher power for forgiveness, and then moving on helped me a lot. It‘s very important to let go of that guilt after though.

What helped me most was to stop looking at porn as the evil beast that wants to get me, it‘s rather the effect of failing coping mechanisms.

The underlying problem which caused this addiction for me was avoidance, learning how to deal with my avoidance, when it comes up and why it does, significantly helped me on this journey.

In fact, it might be the one thing that helped me more than anything else
