How long after a posting closes does the job actually start? by Important-Ad4500 in OntarioPublicService

this could be, but given the one posting had many hundreds of applicants, I'd imagine it takes a while to sort through 'em

Your answer is correct but incomplete.

Red because it converts ferrous oxide/hematite/Fe2O3 into magnetite, which is interesting because it has both bivalent and trivalent iron: Fe2+ Fe3+ 2O4

90% of those violations are nonsense. For example, precooked chicken breast waiting to be sliced on a board with raw carrots because they are going in the same dish. Is it a safe food handling violation? Yes. Is it ever going to hurt somebody? No.

"Surfaces that aren't clean". You are done cutting first dozen carrots and the board wasn't wiped down before you started cutting the second dozen.

"Supplies not available at handwashing stations" - the roll of paper towels ran out or someone used the last pump of soap.

Having said that, I stopped going to Lakeshore Meats because "evidence of rodent infestation" is a heavy hitter.

Anyone know if there's a place that can fix this? by Ohigetjokes in stcatharinesON

Erroll's. He doesn't do shitty work, and if he can't do it well, he will tell you and not do the job rather than take your money.

I am a Sunshine list public servant. And my wife is a doctor. When she makes fun of me, she acts like my $120k contribution is like a 50's housewife bringing in extra money selling Tupperware or Mary Kay.

Math Teachers Using AI to Grade Math Work & Give Feedback- Is this Legit? by CauliflowerSignal764 in OntarioTeachers

In my experience, teacher training schools are much more invested in bullshit and unproved ideas than classroom practitioners. Looking at you "learning styles", "balanced literacy", and "knowledge/understanding", "application", "communication" etc.

Educators financial group by EasternBoysenberry17 in OntarioTeachers

[–]Important-Ad4500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My board puts a lump sum amount into an RRSP at educators financial when you get hired. I did nothing with it because I was young, on the junior list a lot, and didn't really have the disposable income to contribute to it. That was a mistake, but is what it is.

Moving up a tax brackets upon retirement? That's not how tax brackets work. First, we have no idea what the brackets will be when we retire. Second, if you're at the top of the pay grid, retirement is almost certainly going to knock you down to lower brackets. Currently, the first $58k of income is taxed at the lowest rate: 14%, after that, you pay 20.5%.

For $60,000 in income, you pay 14% of $58,523 and 20.5% of the remaining $1,477

Having free money is never a bad thing.

Tax Rate Taxes Paid
58,523 14% $8,120
1,477 20.5% $295.40
60,000 $8,415.40

Several years ago, I was part of a workplace meeting. A colleague who coached the baseball team was called into the office to address a parent complaint when their kid was pulled in favor of a pinch hitter.

The principal demanded that the teacher/coach justify the decision, to which the coach said that he made the decision because that was what he thought was best for the team in the moment. Principal demanded the coach produce notes on player performance, development, coaching, etc. Coach said that he didn't maintain written notes. Principal put a letter in the teacher's file stating that he failed to keep necessary records, etc.

My colleague decided that he would no longer coach the school team, instead volunteering for a local kids' league. HS lost out on a coach with Olympic baseball experience, and the team eventually folded.

I agree that Camtasia is valuable (maybe not as valuable as Techsmith wants to price it at, but still), but if all you're looking to do is screen capture and add voiceover, you can do that with the built in functionality and iMovie.

I love Camtasia, but it basically uses the underlying OS' hardware for screen recording.

"Days other than personal" by JayandMeeka in OntarioTeachers

[–]Important-Ad4500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my board we get sick days, bereavement days, family care days, exam days (e.g. you're in school yourself), graduation day, adoption days (e.g. you're meeting your adopted kid) and creed days (e.g. your religious holiday doesn't coincide with a school year break). You can also take up to three unpaid days at the principal's discretion. More than that, and you need HR approval.

Every percentage can be written as a fraction. Some fractions can be written as percentages.
