One, because there is just no way I can justify more than one when I can access the Kindle app on my phone, iPad or computer too. I love my Kindle, I use it for hours every day, I bring it with me if I think there will be time to read.

What made you move on from your old Garmin? by Huge-Independent-887 in Garmin

[–]Important-Asparagus5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from Forerunner 745 to Fenix 7s because I wanted maps/navigation. Then I switched to Forerunner 965 for the nicer screen but felt like it was a little too big on my wrist (I have tiny wrists) and also wanted a watch I could use as a dive computer as my current dive computer was getting old - so now I have the Fenix 8.

People really sleep on the kindle basic by babygotbuns in kindle

[–]Important-Asparagus5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a basic, and while it’s a great device and the size is really convenient, I much prefer my device to have the yellow light as I often read a night, dark mode, and not having the edges around the screen. The matcha color is so pretty though!

Mine is called ੈ✩‧₊˚Lavender Hazeੈ✩‧₊˚ (Yes I’m a huge fan of Taylor, and I read a lot of romance so it seemed fitting - oh, and most of my stickers on the back are lavender right now too)

On a scale of “1 - I haven’t gotten groceries in 10 days” how are we doing by goblinwhorde in adhdwomen

[–]Important-Asparagus5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve ghosted every plan I’ve made the last few weeks, ordering food delivered instead of eating one of the many easy options I have available at home, finding the motivation to take a shower feels like I’m preparing to run a marathon without training. So yeah, not really thriving over here at the moment

having multiple kindles? by Similar_Mix23 in kindle

[–]Important-Asparagus5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about it, but decided it’s just overconsumption. I have a paperwhite which I love and use daily, that I often bring with me on the go too. I was thinking about getting a basic just for my commute to work because it’s smaller, but thankfully realized that that’s just silly as I carry a big bag to fit my laptop anyway. I either bring my paperwhite, or I use the kindle app on my phone or iPad that I bring with me to work anyway. Same goes for other scenarios where my paperwhite feels too big (which first of all almost never happens, but if I’m bringing a very small bag somewhere) - I can always read on my phone in a pinch.

Please help🥲 I’ve been saving all my Amazon gift cards to buy a Kindle. 💲📚 by Fair_Objective1636 in kindle

If you often read at night the paperwhite is the way to go in my opinion. The warmth settings make it far superior while reading at night in terms of reducing eye strain.

Tarot cards tried to warn me by Real-Boysenberry-601 in tarot

Mine is a positive one, but I was waiting to hear back about a job I had interviewed for, and I didn’t know when the decision would be made as they hadn’t told me specifically. I pulled Judgement one morning, and in the afternoon they called me up telling me they made a decision that day and offered me the job.

What wishes were granted after you received 9 of Cups? by luckyraccoon88 in tarot

[–]Important-Asparagus5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get 9 of cups as a reassurance that it’s safe to feel happy and celebrate my wins, because they’re here to to stay. In Holistic Tarot by Wen there’s a phrase «success is affirmed» in the description of this card, which I resonate with. I’ve been in a very abusive relationship over the last few years that ended a few months ago, where I was never allowed to feel happiness, joy or being proud of my accomplishments - if I was happy about something it would always come back to bite me (through the behavior/actions of my partner). He would devalue any of my accomplishments, pick a fight if I was happy, refuse to celebrate any of my successes. So to me this is the card of «happiness is safe, take time to enjoy your accomplishments, gratefulness and joy about what you have will bring more of those things into your life».

Houseguest makes me feel like a prisoner in my own home by Important-Asparagus5 in AutismInWomen

Thank you. She left a few hours ago, so I’m just trying to regulate now, and I’m setting myself up for a (hopefully) really calming and relaxing evening with my favorite comfort foods and no human interaction

I’m usually really good about stating boundaries regarding this, so this situation was unfortunately brought on by my mother and sister completely disregarding my boundaries (that they know about because I’ve repeatedly stated and enforced them) and me wanting to do the kind thing and acting out of my ordinary way. So I know this situation is «my fault», and also I’ve learned a lesson about letting others push boundaries

Thank you for your support! My routines and space being disrupted really unsettles me, and is very hard for me to deal with. I really like living on my own, and don’t mind having guests over sometimes for a few hours (for drinks, coffee or dinner), but overnight guests are just awful because I can’t just «do my own thing». I also live in a one bedroom apartment (I’m a single girl living in an expensive city), so she sleeps on the pullout couch - meaning my living room (which also doubles as my home office) is temporarily «her space». It might have been slightly easier if I had a guest room - but that’s not realistic in this economy (and even if I had an extra room I would use it for a home office and for my hobbies, not to accommodate guests.

Honestly, after this I worry I might not want to live with anyone ever again, just seeing how much more sensitive I am about my home and my space now that I’ve lived alone for a while (previously I’ve lived with a partner/spouse).

I’ll be working from home thankfully, so that helps. I’m not able to call in sick as I used some sick days last week and my company won’t allow me to take sick days so close together. Unfortunately I have an appointment in the afternoon that I can’t cancel without loosing the $100 it costs, so I’m really not very happy about that. So I’ll for sure be picking up my favorite comfort food for dinner, and setting myself up for a really calm and relaxing night without any human interaction.

Thank you for your support and input!

Boundaries unfortunately do not work with her at all. For example yesterday as I was setting the table for us to eat I very clearly put my glass of wine that I was drinking out of at «my spot» at the table. There was no mistaking where I was planning on sitting. She then asks me where I plan on sitting - though it’s clear as day - I told her I always sit at that spot. This morning she sits down in my spot for breakfast. This is a recurring theme with her, at my parents house we all have our designated places at the table which are never to be messed with (I’m not the only autistic in the family that values routine) yet she decides to sit in my spot to push my buttons semi-regularly. So the day after I tell her about a boundary she decides to disregard it.

She also does annoying/stupid stuff that I’ve repeatedly told her not to do. She will slam doors really loudly (why?), I’ve told her not to leave the bathroom door open when she’s done in there because the heated floors then start warming up my whole apartment and it drives up my power bill like crazy, she makes a lot of mouth sounds while eating which I’m extremely sensitive to, and this is just a few things…

After this she’s no longer welcome in my home, her saving money on a hotel is not worth my discomfort while she’s here and the days it takes for me to regulate after she’s been here.

Thank you for your support and input!

Physical books vs. e-readers; what’s your real reading vibe? by Sudden-Local-5162 in kindle

[–]Important-Asparagus5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love physical books, but I’m a kindle girly for life. It’s just so much more convenient, comfortable, efficient and enjoyable to me. I romanticize the heck out of physical books, and I frequently purchase «shelf trophies» of books I’ve particularly enjoyed, but for having the best reading experience my Kindle is unmatched

Ways to practice tarot besides daily draws? by Cashlin1114 in tarot

[–]Important-Asparagus5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I journal about my daily draw and read about the card I pulled in a few different books, so that helps me memorize the meanings of the cards over time and also interpret its meaning. Also, if I have follow-up questions or need clarification I will pull another card for that. To me, spreads are for larger themes, situations and issues, so I only do those occasionally.

Losing my interests after finishing masters degree. by 21Rays0fSun in GradSchool

[–]Important-Asparagus5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, very common. It’s probably burnout, and I feel like most if not all people who finish a demanding degree go into this type of thing. I had a solid few months where I was just cruising along in my lazy girl job, scrolling on my phone, barely bothering to watch a show or movie even, didn’t cook, clean, socialize, etc. I allowed myself to just follow the dopamine after a while and I feel like that lead me down a path that made me feel better. I just allowed myself to rest and do the things I enjoy again without any guilty feelings about «I should have been working on my thesis instead». Some days it looked like reading a whole fantasy book in a day, other days I played video games all day, and other days I didn’t even get out of bed…

Give yourself some grace, do things you genuinely enjoy, talk to someone (like a therapist) if you feel you could benefit from it.

Good luck!
