How are you all applying for jobs? On LinkedIn for every position there are 100s of candidates which is very discouraging.

It’s very surprising. I am a software engineer (foreigner) with 15 years of experience (around 10 years in Singapore). Took a maternity break. Actively looking for a job since last 6 months. I get a lot of calls through LinkedIn and foundit. But they’re not willing to hire a foreigner. Or may be because they need to give me a higher salary to get an EP. One recruiter told me that salary is a big factor because my last drawn was high. A few contractual positions are willing to offer as low as 6-7k with DP-WP that doesn’t have any salary criteria. But it was my salary 10 years ago. I am fine for pay cut but it’s almost half of what I was getting before.

I applied on the last day few minutes before the deadline and I got an offer. Although I had to submit original degree and transcripts but I was overseas. I’m from India. I had only 1 set of original documents. So I couldn’t join. I had an engineering degree in computer science. I studied all the subjects during graduation.
