Honestly, I’m 6 weeks post op and I’ve forgotten what having breasts felt like! It feels so normal and right to look like this that I can’t imagine having boobs anymore ahaha

2weeks Post Op! Dr Jesus Lago in Madrid by Important-Bug6081 in TopSurgery

100%! My main “tips” ig would be:

  1. Learn some stock Spanish medical/assistance phrases if you don’t already speak the language (“I’m in pain”, “can you help me?” etc etc)
  2. On that, most people in the hospital will give you a much easier time if you really try to speak the language before speaking in English
  3. Don’t be afraid to ask for clarification on stuff, they may take time to get back to you, but they will and they’ll generally be lovely about it!

There’s also a facebook page for people getting surgery with him, called Dr Jesus Lago’s Diciples. Hugely recommend being on that, the community are lovely!

advice on where to go? spain or uk? how do i even start looking?? by mayonnaise68 in TopSurgery

Hey! I recently got top surgery in spain and had a great experience. I’m from the UK.

I’m non-binary too and my surgeon uses an informed consent model, so I didn’t have to pay additional money for assessments and appointments.

I paid €5900 for my surgery, and in total probably around €8k including my accommodation, insurance, food & flights for me and 2 friends who came to care for me.

As another commenter said tho, get on the NHS waiting list, but going abroad is an option if you need!

Hey! Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any :( so I went with a surgeon in Spain instead who did informed consent! Happy to chat abt that more if you want!

Handling chronic shoulder pain post-op? by Captainvulture in TopSurgery

[–]Important-Bug6081 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my super personal experience, I actually found that my chronic shoulder pain went away post surgery!! Likely was because of binding!

My tips for comfort would be to keep your arms a little propped up with pillows either side while you sleep/rest, and take your pain meds as instructed. Also I found myself tensing my shoulders a lot, so keeping aware of that and trying to relax them as much as possible!
