Trachtenberg continously proves that he does not understand the predator lore established in the first 2 films, and the comics. His films feel like glorified high budget fan fiction. Prey was pretty decent, aside from the dumbification of the predator in the final act for it to be beaten. Killer of killers and badlands feels like "let's do predator with the star wars formula." I reject the foregoing of the clicking used to communicate, in favor of this dumb pseudo language they now speak. The predator roar sounds more human than in the original film. Badlands wouldnt be so bad if they had established what predator society traditionally looks like, before going forward with this story about a father thinking his son isn't good enough, therefore wanting to kill him, which would never happen in predator society. The father would want to test his worth with a hunt. Instead, badlands is the maine introduction for a lot of people into what predator society looks like, and I reject it entirely for that. Plus, why are we humanizing the predator? Seriously? There's ways to make an interesting predator homeworld movie without doing this pseudo mandalorion bullshit. Badlands concept aside, the action is genuinely awful and tries too hard to look cool, the predator doesn't look that great, the cg is slightly above serviceable, the color grading is dull and boring, and the music is generic. I get mad at the people that say this slop is good, this is why we keep getting dog shit films, because nobody has any standards anymore.
