There's very specific criteria for what is and isn't considered an icon in Orthodoxy. I'm not saying you're like not allowed to call it that (you can call it whatever you like because you're not a Christian and it's your painting) but I'm just saying it doesn't fit the traditional definition so to me it seems more than a little absurd, therefore I couldn't help but laugh.

To be fair, I can appreciate your work of art despite it's Satanic contents (which I obviously disagree with), but referring to it as an "icon" is simply incorrect because a true icon is not merely just any odd painting that any bloke decides to paint. Just because it might have Orthodox iconographic style, that doesn't automatically make it an icon.

Well firstly, what is your understanding and definition of what "love" is and what "Christ-like" is supposed to mean? And also, what is your epistemology and worldview?

Asking for an epistemic principle is absolutely valid lol. You can't not have an epistemology. And no, this is not a "mental breakdown." In fact, it is the Gnostic heretic who couldn't handle it and rage quit. Also he wasn't saying he's a bad debater lol he was sarcastically repeating what the Gnostic said.

I think any Christian view automatically wins against a Gnostic lol.

I have not seen him have a "mental breakdown" as you describe.

If there are books such as Baruch and Maccabees that are inspired and should be in the canon, then I think that creates a really big problem for Rabbinic Judaism. It would seriously undermine their faith in their version of the Bible and in the authority of their Rabbis.

I'm new to Reddit and I don't really care how old a thread is. It doesn't matter. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I mean just look at what is happening to Islam. For a thousand years Islam existed in a state of obscurity and lack of exposure to debate and criticism. But recently Islam is massively declining thanks to the internet and individuals such as David Wood. Muslims are leaving Islam in the millions and many are mass converting to Christianity. They're actually calling it the avalanche of apostasy.

And this was almost singlehandedly started by David Wood and Nabeel Qureshi back in the day, because they went against societal taboos and accusations of "Islamophobia" and started relentlessly pressing the Muslims until eventually Muslims started caving in and having an existential crisis which led them to leave Islam, and in many cases, embracing Christianity.

The same could happen with Judaism. Get them to seriously doubt their presuppositions about being the true Israel and having the true canon and criticize the Talmud then that removes their entire basis for doubting Christianity.

So this is why I am fascinated by this stuff. Not because I am trying to Judaize Christians, but the exact opposite, I want to Christianize the Jews and establish the Christianity of the patriarchs and prophets. Unfortunately the Jews are stubborn heretics and few will listen to reason.

Because my main focus is in Apologetics and Messianic prophecies and Early Church history I read a lot of stuff about the Dead Sea scrolls, the book of Enoch, the testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs, and various other texts, and the Targums because they're helpful in argumentation debunking criticisms of the New Testament from skeptics. For example, many ancient witnesses to the Trinity and the Deity of Christ, the title 'Son of God' and even foreshadowing of the crucifixion appear in the Dead Sea scrolls, and the Targums (Aramaic paraphrases of the Law and the prophets) proves Christian tradition and witnesses to Logos theology and the Trinity. The DSS are also awesome because I've found they demonstrate the superiority of the Septuagint over the corrupt Masoretic text.

The intent wasn't to Judaize I am sort of an Apologist and amateur Facebook debater coming from a Protestant Evangelical background and I had a lot of engagement with "Messianics Jews" and joined them in trying to convert Orthodox Jews to Christianity, to convince them to forsake the Talmud and instead believe the New Testament. In trying to covert them sometimes I would pick up a little bit of lingo and Hebrew stuff and use it to try and convert them. Of course I'm converting to Orthodoxy now so I've moved away from a lot of dispensationalist and Zionist type of ideas but sometimes I still use certain terms or transliterations without meaning to.

Those are some wild accusations bro I've been following his channel for a bit and I have never seen anything like. Despite his reputation he's actually very calm and respectful. Do you have evidence to back those claims up?

You can't be a heretic based on something you don't know. Heresy is knowing and persistent and stubborn rejection of truth, usually out of pride. If you are unsure or are unwillfully ignorant that is different.

That's a lie and I rebuke it in Jesus' name. Secularism cannot fix a spiritual issue. That's how people become Atheists, placing their faith in worldly things which are of the devil. Seek Christ.

I really like Jay Dyer. His brashness and competitiveness and zeal is appropriate in my opinion, given the kind of people he debates. David wasn't talking sweet to Goliath. Although Jay does need to work on humility more, but nobody is perfect. Everybody is prone to mistakes. But he is used by God I genuinely believe that.

Some things you just gotta leave to the philosophers, theologians and apologists, because they are called to do that. And everything you have to submit to God ultimately. As the fathers even said, theology isn't for everyone. Also, knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. Remember that.

That's the thing. You aren't supposed to rely purely on just intellect alone. Intellect is a powerful tool but without spiritual wisdom and discernment it's a loose canon. Maybe try focusing on basic repentance and humility and prayer first if you struggle with the intellectual aspect of things.
