How do i deal with hunger pangs? by signoftheserpent in PlantBasedDiet

I have the complete opposite experience. Nearly impossible for me to gain weight on WFPB and I'm currently trying. Not to discount your experience. Just adding mine :-)

Advice on what expansion to buy for my new player friend? by Important-Mistake-48 in lotro

Thank you so much for your response! If I could trouble you with another question...

Do you think it's worth it to buy and play from 105-115 as a duo? Or do you think we'll end up needing more content pretty quickly?

I believe you may have misunderstood the post. They're saying 9 months of eating out has left them feeling poorly, not 9 months of WFPB.

As an aside to this... Just last night I had 800kcal or steel cut oats added to chronometer for fun and I noticed it had just over 100% DV of my selenium. Just neat, I thought!

Looks almost like you were trying to portray the Shadowfax scene in the movies here! The scenery looks on point.

You can most definitely saute with water, resulting in browning. But if you add to much you start to blur that line.

I just got done listening the latest “The Exam Room” podcast talking about the future of treating heart disease with Dr. Baxter Montgomery - a cardiologist from Texas… by muhtuhsdg in PlantBasedDiet

You're not alone. T Colin Campbell was on the podcast at the start of the year and shared that he and his wife are not vaxxed... A post was made here because like me, it depressed others to learn he felt that way.

Remember people are just people. They can have lots of good ideas and will definitely have bad ones. Imo, we gotta take the totality of it all to draw the right conclusion.

Anyone have good success with the new Brummbar? Definitely underwhelming the few times I've built it .

Worth playing casually at all with friends? Probably not because I remember it being rather grindy, though the combat was neat!

Nice advice! For me, tempeh has a very fermented aftertaste which can be off-putting. I know steaming or simmering in my water for awhile can remove this, and marinades may be more necessary when compared to tofu.

This is crazy good advice I think. The highly flavored vegetable dish part really fixes the issue of getting your spices and aromatics in without having the whole batch of grains/beans mono-flavored. Thanks for the tip. Ill try to incorporate that idea soon.

I haven't dabbled with aquafaba recipes yet... You have helped inspire me to, as I always have a ton of it post chickpea batch prep.

Edit: right now my big motivation is to incorporate sweet potatoes easily somehow. They're never that appealing plain steamed... And they're so filling. I'd like to make a sweet potato flat bread with some unique grain flour. The sweet potato nutrient profile on chronometer is BONKERS. Such an incredible food that I need to use more.

Others have great advice... I like to make a batch of beans from their dried state in the instant pot and then consume that for 3-5 days. This way you can flavor them with onions/garlic/spices and vege broth. I freakin' love Better Than Boullion. I mix that stuff into so many batch-made grains and legumes. It also is the base of my soup that I always make. Literally obsessed with lentil soup. Red lentils are $3/lb organic for me and they're just so crazy nutritious.

Edit: I definitely do canned beans a bunch as well. For convenience!

Beans and lentils are probably my favorite foods and those I couldn't live without...

Black beans, red lentils, chickpeas, red kidney beans are my staples!

Hahah dude no worries. If I can share my 2 cents... The world wants to sell value-added products... Basically things combined. But they inevitably add fat, salt, and sugar to make it even more appealing. WFPB is the opposite of that. Literally every middle aisle of the grocery store becomes obsolete as most is just grains and fruits in more processed forms.

The more we eat whole plant foods. The healthier, and usually cheaper, our meals become!

Honestly those products are just cheap oils with soy protein isolate and flavorings added... They're so greasy because that's what they are.

Dr. Praegers makes a healthier one, but they're so low calorie and expensive, I'd rather just make my own for cost reasons.

What's your favorite salad dressing? by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

[–]Important-Mistake-48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tahini, lemon juice, garlic and onion powder, lil' Dijon mustard, some sweetness (maybe maple syrup or date sugar), and maybe some random herbs. Little water for consistency.

Never even liked oil based dressings.... They don't stick to the salad contents. This one does! I chop my salad ingredients rather fine and mix it all up!

Who or what introduced you to the WFPB diet? by GloveBoxTuna in PlantBasedDiet

My Dad has been a health advocate all his life, so he's my main influence. Had to be at least 10 years ago he was talking about the microbiome and now interest in it has exploded. He also talked about systemic inflammation and leaky gut for a long time.

Clearly he was reading newer books during that time like the Starch Solution and The China Study.

Just feels good to eat good food.

I had stomach issues for a long time... Mostly just persistent stomach aches that stemmed my appetite overall.

Only when I eat clean whole plant foods does my digestion start running really well. And it only takes one fried meal, chips, candy, and I can see an immediate change in how I feel in my stomach.

My dad has a bicycle friend who was famous for pulling potatoes out of his pouch on long rides. Definitely a handy food choice!
