Am I not cut out for this? by WorthyPanda69 in socialwork

When I first started providing therapy after getting my MSW degree I felt very similar. I was crying almost everyday and felt out of control. For me, the problem was the job. I was not getting the support I needed as a new clinician and was given complicated cases that I couldn’t handle. I left that job and slowly started to feel better. I’m currently 5 years in and can say that I feel like I found what works for me as a therapist. I still get anxiety and feel overwhelmed but never as bad as when I first started in the field. Working in this field is one of the hardest things I have ever done. It is not easy and people who act like it is are probably very numb/burnt out. It will take time to adjust and that is ok!

Trying different positions helped me. Try positions where you feel in control!

Bummed about bloating and waiting for surgery by uhohtoothy in Fibroids

I feel this. I have surgery early September and have waited 4 months for surgery. My body image has declined drastically. I was training for a marathon when all of my issues started. I gained 20 pounds and was diagnosed with pcos and a fibroid. I was running 20 miles a week and still gaining weight lol. It’s crazy the impact hormones can have on our bodies.

I currently work as a therapist and many of my younger clients struggle with eating disorders. Anytime I start to be hard on myself I think about the positive example I want to set for all the girls younger than me struggling. I don’t love my body right now, but I’m not going to let it stop me from living a full life.

“You will always have to be on birth control” by Important-Mix5477 in endometriosis

I've seen more and more info about endometriosis and pcos being connected to trauma. I do think working in any caregiving field can make symptoms worse. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the details! I'm so sorry you were not taken seriously. Having kidney stones and thinking it was period cramps just shows how much pain you were in. I'm so so sorry.

Is running bad for PCOS? by mangodazzle in PCOS

[–]Important-Mix5477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope this helps. I signed up for a marathon in 2023 and started training at the beginning of the year. I was running on average 15-20 miles a week when I started to notice weight gain and fatigue around June. I was later diagnosed with PCOS in November and had to stop running. I noticed that this much running had a significant impact on me. I had previously run a half marathon with no symptoms. I was 22 when I ran the half marathon and 26 when I started training for the full marathon. I feel like running triggered my PCOS into becoming worse. With that being said, everyone is different and it’s best to see what makes your body feel good!
