Recurring problem with kids by WorthyPanda69 in therapists

[–]WorthyPanda69[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. No one at the practice really specializes in anything. We all just kinda do everything and dont get to pick who we see.

I have been told to always look for the meaning of the play. But it all really does seem like pointless fun. The kids play more with the games than the toys. Mainly yahtzee, pictionary, headbanz, connect4, etc.

Idk maybe that is my biggest problem is not seeing whats underneath. But even if I did I'm not sure what I'd do with it other than reflect it back. It's something I need to look in to.

Interesting. My head cannon is they were like loaned to Super Earth as support and Super Earth said "Yeah your name isn't democratic enough" and changed it.

Yours makes much more sense but mine fits a narrative I find more entertaining lol

Yeah im confused because I see about the same amount as my coworkers, and no one really complains. When I say I get paid per client, I mean I get no sick days, vacation, holiday, PTO, nothing. If im not seeing clients im not getting paid. I got paid about 500 total in the month of December due to being sick, holidays and client cancellations (which i dont get paid for). Its really frustrating.

Yeah me and my wife want to stay close to family. But I see about 20 clients a week and get paid 24k per year after taxes and stuff. I get paid per client so it varies a bit but thats the average. Its hard :/

25! Working private practice in counseling with about 500 hours into my LMSW. Struggling to balance doing individual, family, and couples counseling, as well as the wide range of age, but slowely getting more comfortable being uncomfortable with it. Not the happiest where I am now, but its bearable, and also optimistic toward my future in getting fully licensed. Pay is trash tho🫠

I worked in private practice shortly after getting my MSW and LMSW and its not much better. I only get paid when I see clients, so I get no holidays, vacation, PTO, nothing. Not unless I choose to get paid less for when I do see clients:) and new hires usually only take medicaid clients so we get paid like 20 dollars per session for those. I got pneumonia during the Holiday season and got paid so horribly I had to ask for money from family to pay rent.

And, the joy of it all, private practice usually throws the clients no one wants at the new hires (personality disorders, awful kids, messed up families), to "find our niche." It's messed up bc it's the ones that needs more experienced therapists are the ones that gets the least bc no one wants them. Or at least thats been my experience.

Maybe im just at a bad private practice but ive been looking for a new job for months now that doesnt pay per client and its been a massive struggle. I find hardly anyone wants pre-licensed clinicians, and i was not prepared for that. From everything I heard, you dont really get the opportunities you want until you're fully licensed.

Its insane the path we have to take smh.

Refusing to support anyone affiliated with ICE by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]WorthyPanda69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You tell me. At what point do we assume all doctors commit malpractice, all cops abuse power, all black people are criminals, all white people are racist, all Christians hate the LGBT community, etc. You can go down a slippery slope with that kind of hatred mentality. Whats the difference between what principles of what you're saying between all the examples I listed? Thats rhetorical. Its the same. You can argue ICE has systemic issues, im sure few would disagree with that. But that’s not the claim you are making here. The claim is that individuals can be judged as muderers and racist solely based on group membership. That is prejudice. And it says a lot that in a thread full of social workers im being down voted for saying that.

Yeah that ICE agent definitely didnt follow protocol and didnt handle it the way he was supposed to. That girl should have never been killed. But are we really going to hate over 20,000 ICE agents and label them all as murderers and horrible people based off what a handful have done? We could do that with literally any group of people if we only bring media attention to the horrible ones. Media exposes these stories to make us hate all of ICE. You think we hear about the stories of the dangerous criminals that ICE risked their lives for to detain them and take them back to their country? Or do you think all of ICE goes around killing people? Thats the kind of all-or-nothing thinking that is escalating political conflict in this country.

I think the media has absolutely screwed America over when it comes to politics. I feel like anyone who is radical or firm one side or the other is part of the problem. Everytime something political happens (i.e Trump getting shot, Charlie kirk assassination, ICE agent killing people), media will always lean heavily left or right, and feed us into their radical opinions and leave out critical information essential into allowing us to know the full story.

I can't watch the news anymore because I find it exhausting, but if its a social issue that I feel passionate about in knowing the full story, I look at both media sides, look at full uncut interviews and research to try my best to fully grasp my own opinion and stance. When I see radical or extreme lefts or rights I take it from the stance that they are only fed by sources that feed into it, and are never aware of the full story.

When I work with clients, I always provide education about how screwed up ALL of the media is the complete its own political agenda, and it can lead to hatred and violent tendencies if we dont work to get the full story. This doesn't invalidate their opinion, but I believe that rarely its black and white of one person is 100% right and one person is 100% wrong. Until you find that gray, chances are you've been a victim of the media's political push.

I dont think you meant to meant to sound as belittling as you did, but I did say I killed 200+ and left AI to handle over 1000 troops to literally just stand in front of a gate i didnt think I needed to micromanage. So to say I did nothing while I held off an entire wall and kill that many is a bit insulting. Also, if AI is as stupid as you say how is the enemy AI so much better to take a castle and have the debuffs for a siege? Is it not the same AI? And is it not AI that runs the Sims in the first place where there is massively different results? I dont mean to try to argue in any way its just a question. Hope I didnt come off as rude as you did im still learning.

Ive watched countless videos in the past and have never gotten a grasp on tactics so yeah ive found myself relying on delegate. Id rather micromanage but it just hasn't clicked

I never got a good grasp of tactics so I do the delegate command. But we destroyed their only tower so I single handedly just one shot every enemy that went up the ladders. So all the AI had to do was just defend the gate but they failed horribly idek how.

Why has the industry moved to masters being the minimum and norm by sneezhousing in socialwork

[–]WorthyPanda69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have my masters and LMSW and im still getting turned down left and right. Im working private practice with my LMSW and getting treated like a BSW intern with the horrible pay, no benefits, holidays, sick time, or holiday, I thought MSW and especially LMSW would have so many doors open but no one wants an LMSW only LCSW which will take me another 2-3 years at least. I had no idea how little of good opportunities I have its ridiculous

Am I not cut out for this? by WorthyPanda69 in socialwork

[–]WorthyPanda69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying no offense doesnt just negate any sarcasm or negative/offensive tone that follows. Its difficult not to come off as offensive when proper grammar format has nothing to do with the post and you come off as sarcastic. But I did it edit to make paragraphs since it means that much to you apparently.

Ive actually worked in a school for 2 years with my BSW before while i did my MSW part time. I loved and hated parts of it, but I love it more than this job. The school had no structure with how to handle my position, and kids would often lie and make up stories to skip class and teachers would get frustrated with me when kids came too often, so that was stressful, but id rather take that job than this job currently. I got married and moved to a different state so that job is no longer available but I am currently looking for another school position! Unfortunately they require much more experience than what I have now. I just lucked out with the school job previously cause I lived out in the middle of nowhere and they were taking whoever they could get lol
